CHARLIE ROSS.
Mb. Editob.
Can you tell a young man who
Cliarlio Iloss was, anil if ho has
over been heard from?
Reply:—Charlie Ross was the
son of Christian K. Ross of Ger
mantown, 1’a., and at the time of
his disuppoaronco on tho first ot
July 1874, was little over four
years of ago. Iho story is that
that the two men abducted the
child and his brother, aged G.
It is stated that tho officers of tho
law located tho two men, who
woro found on December 4, 1874,
committing a burglary in the
house of Judge Van Brunt, Bay
Ridge, Long Island. Tho bnr-
gulars were surprised and shot by
tho sons in an adjoining resi
dence. One of them was killed
instantly, aud the other lived sev
eral hours and confessed that lie
and his companion had abducted
Charlie Ross and that the dead
man, Mosher by name was the
one who know whore tho boy was
secreted. Walter, tho brother of
Charlie, identified tho burgulars
as the men who out’.cod them.
His father spent a large fortune
to recover Ins boy, but no tidings
woro heard from him. Mr. Ross
is an old man now and has,
doubtless, given mp the search.
We get tho above facts from offi
cial record. Cliarlio was- no
doubt bid away by Mosher, who
expected a big reward for the re
turn of tho boy, but Mosher dying
all clow was lost.
