Mu. Editor:—As 1 see you have no
correspondent from the Asylum, if
you will permit me 1 will try to giye
you a few items every week.
We can now hear the welcome
whistle of the dummy once more,
greatly to the joy of all of us berp
who had to w alk to and from Mil-
ledgeville.
Dr. O'Daniel arrived with his bride
last Monday aud was congratulated
bv all. The Dr. lias made a great
many friends here who wish him
much joy aud happiness through life.
I here was a grand hall given in his
honor last evening. Your soribe whs
not in attendance but hears that it
was something grand.
Mr. T. II. DeSaussnre and family
are visiting friends and relatives in
South Carolina. Ilisfriends wish him
a pleasant trip and a safe return.
Christinas is drawing near and foi
an amusement and to pass off the da
the Asylum Rille Team are going t,»
have a big shooting match. We hav<
alrendy secured several turkeys, geese
and chickens. Among the chickens
will be two fine game cocks, and tin
best marksman will carry them off
The shooting will commence at 10
a. in., o’clock, and last until 2 p. m
Everybody are cordially invited ti
attend, especially those who are fond
■>f that kind of sport. We hope to set
all of the M’ville team out.

strictly cash, and the exchange price
operative for six months only.
Any old books of corresponding grade
and subject will be taken In exchange and
the row books furnished at prices marked
“I'xehango,” i. e., when a pupil has an old
book to exchange for a new one, upon the
same subject, of corresponding grade, lie
gives the denier the old book and pays the
exchange price of the new book.
Again, when a pupil, on account of pro
motion, desires to exctia ge an old book
tor a new one of the next higher grade,
the dealer will make tho same alio vance
for the old book as though it was ex
changed for a new book of its own grade
or number.
The law or October, 1887, provides that
“no teacher shall receive pay for any pu
pil who is allowed to use other than the
prescribed text books,” and further pre
scribes t hut the County School Commis
sioner "shall S’ e that none but the pre
scribed text books are used by the pupils.”
Touchers and pupils will therefore bo ex
pected and required to comply strictly
with the provision of the law.
