The Middle Georgia and Atlantic
seems to mean business by file way
the trains go by. We get glimpses of
the genial faces of Col. Lumpkin and
Gen. Thomas, two of the most prom
ising and efficient railroad men in
the South.
A good deal of cotton is shipped
from here, and a quantity of seed.
Meriwether is one of the best busi
ness centers in Baldwin county.
There is some talk of a blacksmith
shop going up at this place.
Drs. Hubert and McGeliee were in
the city to*day. Dr. H. was ac«*
companied by his brother from War
rentou.
We miss our Meriwether girls, who
are off at school, aud send each one
a kiss.
Among the visitors, we notice, Mr.
Lovit k Broad field, Misses Claude aud
Annie Harper. Miss Annie Myrick,

Humber, who is visiting the family
of Mr. Charles Humber.
Mrs. N. C. Harrison’s lieice is quite

Tile City Council met in regular

Trippe, agent, was laid on the table.
On motion the time for receiving
bids for lighting the city was extend
ed to Nov. 21st, 1S93, and the clerk is
authorized to advertize the same.
The report of the city sexton for
the quarter ending Sept. 30, 1893, was
received and ordered Bpread upon
the cemetery record.
The following resolution was offer
ed and adopted:
