Date In His Proclamation.

dent, today issued the following
Thanksgiving proclamation:

A PROCLAMATION.
While the American people should

thanksgiving the divine goodness
and mercy which have followed thorn
since their beginning as a nation, it
is fitting that one day in eaeh year
should he especially devoted to the
contemplation of blessings we have

to the grateful acknowledgment of
his loving kindness.
Therefore. I, Crover Cleveland,
President of the United States, do
hereby designate and set apart Thurs
day, the 30tb day of the present
month of November, as a day of
thanksgiving and praise, to be kept
and observed by all the people of our

On that day let us forego our ordi
nary work and oinploymeuts and as
semble iu our usual places of wor
ship, where we may recall all that

to make it uulawful for any person
or persons, by himself or agent, or in

gotiate for the selling or furnishing,
or to make any contract or agree*
merit to sell or furnish spirituous or
malt or intoxicating liquors in any
county or counties in the state, when
the sale of such liquors is prohibited
by law', high license or otherwise,
and punishing the same as a misde
meanor.
