THE BARRACKS.
Last Thursday afternoon we visit
ed the Barracks for cadets, on the
college campu?, now near comple
tion. President Woodward, who is
very proud of the Barracks, showed
us through the building, explaining
the excellence and pertection of the
structure for the purposes for which
it was designed. After our visit, we
asked a little girl of our party, a
pupil in the preparatory department,
to “wiite up” tlie Barracks for us.
She readily consented and soon pro
duced tiie fdllovving:

day and a legal holiday, we started
out for a stroll. As we walked along
thisquiet dty I was thinking of the
many things lor which we should
be thankful.

To Legalize City Bonds Post
poned.
Tile election ordered by the city
council, to be held Dec. 3rd, 1894, to
legalize $22,009 of city bonds has been
postponed. The order for the elec
tion lias been withdrawn at the re
quest of the attorney for the bond
holders for the reason tiiat a special
law is necessary to allow the city,to
hold a legal election on these bond*.
Abill will be introduced iu the legisla
ture defining the proper action of the
city council in this matter and the
election will probably be held about
the middle of January.

The sudden death of Mr. Fernando
G. Posey, on Monday night, 20th ult.,
was a surprise and shock to our citi-;
zens. He wits at his store near the I
