Cost of Cotton Production.
Mr. T. A. Mclyer, of Dooly county,
a practical farmer who liti“ made* a
study of the cotton question for a
number of years, publishes a card in
tile Corde'p Sentinel iu which he
proposi s to er vo a farm of 2 2f acres
to nny odo who will prove that the
average production of cotton \s a-
low as ten cents per pound in the
south, where all the supplies are
raised ou one ha f the land and the
other half planted in cotton.
The average for a series of years
will be the basis to determine tne
co t.,
Accompanying Mclver’s card is u
certificate from the President of tb>*
Nath rial bank of Oordele, that he is
reliable and good for his contracts.
Mr. Mclyer attended the teeent
convention of cotton planters at
Montgomery, and says that lie was
surprised at the assertion of the con*
vention that the average cost of pro
duction of cotton is 7 cents, when in
fact he knows it io be 12 cents. So j
thoroughly is he convinced that be
is right that be has made th# re- j
markable offer above.
