with paralysis on Monday niplit,

Dr. Polhill came from Macou to this
city with the family of his sou, Mr.
.1. A. Palhill, about two months ago.
He lived in this city in his youth
and was attached to the place and
it was laigely through his influence
that his son was induced to locate
iie i)r" Polhill was an intellectual ge*
nial gentleman. He was 76 years of
age, but was unusually vigorous for
a man of his age. He made ..“AV
friends here who lament his death.
Hisremaius were carried to Griffin
yesterday morning for burial.

Purposes Hereinafter Stated.
The Mayor and Aldermen of the City
of Milledgeviile hereby notify the qualified
voters of said City that on the 4th day of
December, 1895, an election will be held to
determine the question whether bonds in
the sum of Twenty-two Thousand ($22,000)
Dollsrs shall be Issued by the said Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Milledgeviile
for the purpose of raising money to pay
the debt Incurred by the Baid Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Milledgeviile to
the Southern Bank of tlie State or Georgia
and for which bonds issued in aid of the
Georgia Normal and Industrial College
wore sold and delivered to said Bank,
Said elect ion Is to be held on the day
named at the City Hall within
the corporate limits of said City, and In
all respects as provided ty Section 508 (j)
of the 1882 Code of Georgia, and the result
thereof shall be ascertained and declared
as provided by law. All the qualified vo
ters of said City shall be entitled to vote
in said election, and all those voting for
the issuance of nonds shall have written
or printed on their ballots ‘‘for bonds” and
all those voting against the issuance or
said bonds shall have written or printed
on their ballots "against bonds.’ Said
election is called by virtue of an ordinance
of ihe Mayor and Aldermen of tbeCIty of
Milledgeviile, passed on the 1st day of
October, 1895, which ordinance was passed
in pursuance of an act of the General
Assembly of Georgia, approyed December
17th, 1894. The amount of bonds sought to
be issued, the purposes for which they are
to be issued, the interest they are to
bear, the amounts of principal and Inter
est to be paid annually, and the time when
said bonds are to be fully paid off. are all
fully and specially set forth in said ordi
nance, which is published as-a part of this
notice, a copy of which Is as follows:
An ordinance to provide for an election
by the qualified voters of the City of Mil-
ledgevllfe.todetermine whether bonds in the
sum of Twenty-two thousand ($22,009) dol
lars shall be issued, provide for the sale
of the same; llie application of the pro
ceeds and payment of said bonds at ma
turity and for other purposes.
Section 1st—Be it ordanlcd by the
Mayor and Aldermen of the City of MU-
lodgeville, aud it is orduinod by the au
thority of the same. That an election shall
be field in the city of Milledgeviile, upon
the 4th day of December, 1895, under au
thonty of. and as provided by’ an Act of
the General Assembly, approved Decem
ber 17th, 1894, to determine the question
whether bonds for the amount of Twenty-
two thousand ($22,000) Dollars shall be
issued. The total amount of enid issue of
bonds not to be more than 'twenty-two
Thousand($22,000) Dollars; to bear six per
cent Interest per aunura lrom the r date,
payable at the office of the City Treasu
rer of said City annually on December 1st.
and to be of the denominations and num
bers as follows,to-wit: Thirty-eight bonds
for the principal sum of Five bund rod
($500) Dollars euch, with interest coupons
attached thereto, numbered from one to
thirty eight Inclusive, the principal of each
bond payable thirty years from the date
ot the issue thereof; and thirty bonds
each for the principal sum of One Imrdred
($100) .Dollars with coupons attached,nutn-
oered from one to thirty inclusive, one of
said bonds to bo payable on the first day
of December next after day' of issue, and
one on the first day of each succeeding
December thereafter until all have ma- j
i Cured. Said bonds to be signed by the
Mayor and Treasurer of said City, and to
be sold to the highest and best bidder
after due notice has been given; provided,
however, that none of said bonds shall bo
sold lor less than par. The niiucipai and
interest shall be paid in lawful, money of
the United States
Section 2nd.—Be it ordained 1)A the au
thority aforesaid. That at least One hun
dred ($100) Dollars ot the principal ot said
bonds shall be payable annually by the
Mayor and Aldermen of said City ot Mil
ledgeviile, that is to say', on the first of
December ouch year, and that the whole
of said bonds shall be fully paid off in
thirty years from the issuance ot the
same. 1’ho proceeds of the sale of said
bonds be applied to the payment of the
d?bt of Twenty-two thousand ($22,000)
Dollars, due ny the said City to the South
ern Bank of the State of Georgia, and the
interest due and accumulating thereon, as
provided in the act aforesaid or the Gen
eral Assembly, approved December 17th,
1891.
Section 3rd.—Bo it ordained by the au
thority aforesaid, That said election shall
be held on the day aforesaid at all the
voting or election precincts- within the
corporate limits of said City, and in all
respects as provided by section 508 (j) of
i he 18S2 Code of G( orgia, ana the result
thereof shall be ascertained and delated
as provided by said section. All the qual
ified voters of said City shall be entitled
to vote in said election and all those vot
ing for the Issuance or said bonds shall
have written or printed on their ballots
“for bonds,” and all those who vote against
the issuance of said bonds shall have
written or printed on their ballots "against
bonds.”
Section 4th.—Be it further ordained by
the authority aforesaid, That the Mayor
and Clerk of said City shall give thirty
days notice of said election by publishing
an advertisement of the same in the Un
ion Recorder, a newspaper in which the

thirty days next proceeding the clay of
election, as hereinbefore named.

It appearing to the Court by the petition
of Amanda M. Whitney that Nancy E.
Fields did on the 1st day of April, 1889, ex
ecute and deliver to the said Amanda M.
Whitney a mortgage upon a tract of land
lying in said Baldwin county, described as
follows, to-wlt: All that tract or parcel of
land lying in the 115th District G. M. of
said County of Baldwin, containing three
hundred aud seventy acres, more or less,
being hound on the north by lands of Wil
liam Watkins, east by Town Creek and the
lands of S. Walker, south by lands of J. C.
Whitaker, and west by lands of P. M,
Compton and Dr- H. D. Allen, for the pur
pose of securing the payment of a certain
note for ths sum of $900 00 made by the
said Nancy E. Fields to the said Amanda
M. Whitney, and dated April 1, 1889,
payable to the order or said Amanda
Whitney, due five years after date with
interest at the rate of 7 per cent, per an
num from date, to which said principal
note there is attached a coupon interest
note of even date with said principal note
for the sum of Thirty-On« Dollars and
T itty Cents, dated April 1st, 1889, and due
April 1st, 1894, with Interest from maturity
at 8 per cent, per annum, the Interest on
said principal note being due from April
1st, 1894, which is the maturity of the said
coupon Interest note, and the said princi
pal note calling for the sum of 10 per cent,
on principal and Interest as attoonoys fees,
which said principal note and Interest
note and attorneys foes the said Nancy E.
Fields refuses to pay:
It is therefore ordered that the said
Nancy E. Fields pay into this Court, on or
before the next term t hereof, the principal.
Interest and attorney’s fees duo upon said
note, and the cost of this suit, or, in de
fault thereof, the Court will proceed as to
justice shall appertain- Audit is further
ordered that this rule be published in the
Union-Recorder, a newspaper published in
the County of Baldwin, once a month for
four months, or served on the said Nancy
E. Fields, or her special agent or attorney,
three months previous to the next terra of
this Court.
