WASHINGTON LETTER.
Continued from First Page.
man of the Democratic National
OommitteS, who has been in Wash
ington for several days, believes it is
always good politics to keep a
stiff upper lip no matter how the
returns come in. This is the way he
sized up the effect of lttit week’s
election on the democratic party:
“While the elections Bhowed great
republican victories, they have not
disheartened us, by any manner of
means. We shall get together again
by next November and we will make
a good showing in the next cam*
paign. We will select a good candi
date and we will show the country
that the democratic party Is still
very much alive.”
Ex-O’ongressuian Somers, of Wis->
cousin, now in Washington on pri*
vate business, has a record as t
good democrat and a shrewd ob
server of the trend of democratic
sentiment in his state. Hesaidwhen
asked who the democrats of that
state favored for the presidential
nomination: “They are thoroughly
in accord with President Cleveland,
and i believe that were he to an*
noutice himself as a candidate for a
third term he could obtain the entire
delegation. Carlisle stands second
with W. C. Whitney very close to him.
Either would make a good candidate
and a strong campaign.” ExsCon
pressman Holman, of Indiana, who
thoroughly knows the democratic
party of his state, says Indiana
democrats have never seriously co j*
sioered that there was any proba-
bility of President Cievelaud again
becoming a candidate, aud ttiat they
do not believe it lias been seriously
considared anywhere else. Mr. hoi*
man thinks that if no mistake is
made in ttie National ticket Indiana
will go democratic next year.
Physicians Have Found Out
That a contaminating and foreign
elemeut in tlie blood, developed by
indigestion, is the cause of rlieuma*
tism. This settles upon the sensitive
sub-cutuneous covering or the uius*
cles und ligaments of the joints,
causing constant and shift ng pain,
and aggregating as a calcareous,
chalky deposit, which produces stiff
ness and distortion of the joints.
No fact, winch experience has demon*
strafed in regard to Hosteler's Storn*

support than this, namely, that this
medicine of comprehensive uses
checks this formidable and atro*
cious disease, nor is it less positively
established that it is preferable to
the poision3 often used to arrest it,
since the medicines contains only sal
utary ingredients. It is also a sig*
nal remedy for malarial fevers, con
stipation, dyspepsia, kidney and
bladder ailments, debility and other
disorders. Bee that you get the gen*

The baby’s mission, its
work in life, is growth. To
that little bundle of love,
half trick, half dream, every
added ounce of flesh means
added happiness and com
fort. Fat is the signal of
perfect health, comfort, good-nature, baby-beauty.
Scott’s Emulsion is the best fat-food baby can have, in
the easiest form. It supplies what he cannot get in his
ordinary food, and helps him over the weak places to perfect
growth, For the growing child it is growth. For the full-
grown, new life.
