The Band Tournament and Carni
val is increasing in interest not only
in this city but throughout the State.
The management has secured at
tractive posters, advertising this great
event, and placed them in every city,
village and hamlet within a radius ol
130 miles. Reports tire coming from
dilferent sections that large crowds are
coming, and will be here those two
days.
Both days are going to be most in
teresting and full of fun, and the visi
tors will have no cause to regret their
coming to our city
as follows:
Monday 20th 11st., the first day, at
12.30 o'clock The Grand Trade
Display and Fantastic parade, headed
by ID brass bands, will be formed at
the M, G. M. & A. College. The line
of march will be through the princi
pal streets. The music by the'bands
will be. worth coming a hundred miles
hear.
2:30 p. m There will be bicycle
races in the campus ot the college.
Some ol the best riders in the state
have entered for these races.
4 o’clock—Two crack base ball
teams will cross bats.
8 o’clock—A grand lire works dis
play by the Flambeau Club. This
will be one ol the grandest and most
inspiring sights ever witnessed.
8:30—The band contest for prizes.
There will be 10 bands in this contest.
Each band will be required to play three
compositions and an overture, a march
or quick step and a waltz, and will be
judged according to age, number of
instruments, grade of music played and
execution. The committee of judges
will be three competent band instruc
tors. Several beautiful prizes, one of
which is a silver cornet, have already
been received by Prof. Baldwin. Al
ter the contest Foucher, the famous
trick bicyclist, will give an exhibition.
The first day’s program will close
with a grand display ot fireworks.
Tuesday, the second and last day,
will open with a concert by all the
bands present, in different portions of
the city, and tor two hours the air
will vibrate with sweet and inspiring
music.
The most beautiful part ol the whole
program will take place at 1:30. The
Floral and Bicycle Parade will be the
most elaborate one of its kind ever
seen in this section of the State. The
ladies of this city have taken charge
of this part of the program, and as
everybody knows there are more ex
quisite and lovely flowers in this city
than can be found in any city its
size in the state. The bands 120 inen
strong will lead the parade, which will
be formed as follows:—Bands, Bicycle
squads in costume, the Queen of Flow
ers and the Maids of Roses and the
Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Riding Club.
Bicycle races will take place at 3
o’clock, and a game of ball at 4.
At 8 o’clock there will be a grand
Mid Summer Night Festival; the dis
tribution of prizes, and another display
of fireworks.
It will be seen from the program
given above that the Band Tourna
ment and Carnival is going to be a
most elaborate afiair, and will eclipse
anything ever given in this city. Every
feature is going to he carried to a com
plete success. Every citizen should
lend a helping hand to the forwarding
of this Tournament and Carnival.

Deafness Cannot be Cured
By local application, as they cannot
roach the diseased portion of tlie ear,
There is onlv one way to cure dearness,
and that is by constitutional remedies.
Deafness is caused by an inflamed condi
tion of the mucous lining of the Eusta
chian Tube. When this tube gets iniiamed
you have a rumbling sound or Imperfect
hearing, and when it is entirely closed
deafness is the result, and unless the in
flammation can be taken out and this tube
restored to its normal condition, hearing
will bo destroyed forever; nine cases out
of ten are caused by catarrh, which is
nothing but an iniiamed condition cf the’
mucous surfaces. , _ ,
