A Suggestion to Churches.
We clip the following from the
Southern Presbyterian. It all ot our
churches would do as the church men

their pastors from a great deal of worry
but our preachers and churches would
be even more ‘orceful than they are:

Your readers, many of them, do not
know that the Bible is an exoteric and
esoteric book, to be read with two
meanings. Jesus always taught both,
with an exoteric and esoteric meaning,
for all his parables had two meanings.
“He gives twice who gives quickly,”! In Luke 8, 10, 11, 12, He says speak-

people, but was forced to resign bis | ablest" etc. Showing that the best way
pastorate on the ground of insufficient | to reach the mind is to tell a story and
then draw a lesson front it. All tiie
stories of the Bible are esoteric and ex
oteric having two meauings. The
priests alone understood the esoteric
alary. He was distressed at the neee-
sity of leaving a church to which he
was attached, but it was impossible for
him to live on the salary be received.
The people were equally distressed at meaning, unless they choose to explain
tfte necessity o(
up a pastor j it to the people.

PSYCHE AND CUPID.
The story of Psyche, which means
soul, and also a butterfly, which comes
from a chrysalis, a beautitul idea of tin-
soul leaving the dead body which is of
no longer use, and her love tor Cupid,
is that the soul does love, and lias an
ardent desire to see that which it lutes,
though forbidden to see. Cupid came
only at night, for the body is the night
of the soul and (veeps it locked up. The
story must he read to be appreciated
and its esoteric meaning made plain.
VENUS.
As now understood, means love,
beauty, coquetry, infidelity and incon
stancy. That beauty does not carry
I with it at all times virtue. That at
tractiveness is dangerous. The story of
Venus and the apple and the decision
jot Paris in her tavoi;and the anger of
j Juno and Minerva has point.
HERCULES.
The labors of Hercules teaches the
great lesson of obedience, fidelity,
humbleness and * perseverance and at
last his reward. One so great and so
strong that nothing could resist him,
yet, modest with it all. To give tlie-
stories* would take columns. I only give
a few to put the inquiring mind to lead
ing and thinking. The true meaning
of a story is e verything to nuke it in
teresting.
Mythologies are great and pointed
truths hidden under two meanings,
which are found in all sacred writings
