THE EXCELENCE OF SYRUP OF FIGS
it due not only to the originality and
simplicity of the combination, but also
to the care and skill with which it is
manufactured by scientific processes
(known to the California Fig Syrup
Co. only, and we wish to impress upon
all the importance of purchasing the
true and original remedy. As the
genuine Syrup of Figs is manufactured
by the California Fio Syrup Co.
only, a knowledge of that fact will
assist one in avoiding the worthless
imitations manufactured by other par*
ties. The high standing of the Cali*
forma Fig Syrup Co. with the medi*
cal profession, and the satisfaction
■which the genuine Syrup of Figs has
given to millions of families, makes
the name of the Company a guaranty
of the excellence of its remedy. It is
far in advance of all other laxatives,
as it acts on the kidneys, liver and
bowels without irritating or weaken*
ing them, and it does not gripe nor
-nauseate. In order to get its beneficial
effects, please remember the name of
\be Company—
CALIFORNIA FIG SYRUP CO.
Or. J. F. Mixon,
The able and faithful presiding elder
of the Augusta district, is on his last
round to the churches in his charge,
lie held the fourth quarterly conference
' of the Milledgeville church at the par
sonage last Friday night. On Sunday
morning he preached an able sermon
to a small congregation, the weather
being very inclement, Ilis able and
entertaining discourse was founded on
the text, “This thing I do.” He said,
fixedness of purpose and singleness of
aim is necessary to success. Many
distinguished men were dull in their
youth, but succeeded because of fixed
ness of purpese. A man fails only be
cause lie does not comply with the con
ditions of success. He must select his
vocation and stick at it. A successful
man is always modest, -God loves all
men alike, and is not responsible for
their failures, and will nor work mira
cles to save them from the consequences
of their acts. One of the follies or the
day is the notion that children must be
amused, and some parents go so far as
to teach their boys to play cards to keep
them at home at night. He said his
father kept him at home very successful
ly with a peach tree sprout. If a man
does not succeed religiously it is be
cause he does not abound in the Lord,
If lie sets his face Zionward he will not
be diverted from his course by frivolous
things. Religion is a personal matter,
and no man fails whose aim and purpose
is to be religious in everything.

About four years ago one side of my
abdomen began to enlarge from a
growth inside. It grew to such pro
portions that it seemed to fill the ab
domen. Then dropsy began and
swelled both legs and stomach to twice
their normal size. The doctors called
the trouble enlargement of the spleen,
and told me 1 must die. 1 was re
moved from the hospital and sent for
Dr. J. H. McLean’s Liver and Kidney
Balm. I took seven bottles and con
tinually gained and am well in every
way now. The dropsy entirely disap
peared and left the growth very small.
