Joseph Dry Goods Co,
To The People Of Milledgeville.
The Milledgevtlle Lodge ol Elks was
jorganized mainly for the purpose ol
establishing and maintaining in our
town a social club, to be conducted on
h high plane and on a generous and
unselfish plan. The aim ol the c ub
will be to contribute in various way
to the refined social enjoyment of th
people of Milledgeville and to extend
jeourtesie* to strangers and distiuguished
persons visiting our city,
While only men can be members ol
the organization, it will be so conduct
[ed that the ladies of the town will
share diaectly and largely in its bene
fits. From time to time elegant re
ceptions will be given to which ladies
will be invited. On special occasions
ladies will be allowed the use ot the
jelub rooms for holding their public
meetings and for giving social enter
tainments to visiting organizations.
We hope in this way to make these
rooms the center of the best social lile
Jot Milledgeville and the means ot giv»
ing to visitors a favorable impression
of our town and its people. That
there is need ol such an institution' in
Milledgeville is felt by every thought-]
ful person who lots the good of the com
munity at heart.
The character and standing of the
men who compose the Milledgeville]
Lodge of Elks is an ample guarantee]
that its social affairs will be conducted
on a high moral plane, and that at no
time and occasion will anything be al-J
lowed that is inconsistent with the ut
most refinement.
In order to carry out the above
mentioned plans we have leased lor a
term of years the entire second floor ot
the Masonic Building. We wish to fit
up and furnish the rooms in handsome
tyle. To raise the money necessary
tor this purpose we will give during
]the first week in December, a Grant
Bazaar lasting several days and nights
a lull program ot which will be pub
lished within the next week or two,
I'o make the occasion a success, wt
earnestly solicit the hearty support, co
operation, and help of the people ol
Milledgeville generally, pledging our
selves that we will use the money real
ized, not for selfish ends, but lor tilt
establishment in Milledgeville of
institution that we hope may be lor
years to come a source of pride and ol
practical benefit to the entire town.
If we can get the rooms ready
lime we propose opening them to tiie
public on Washington’s birthday, Feb
ruary 22nd, 1903, with a grand cos
tume colonial ball which we hope t<-
make one ot the most brilliant social
levents ever seen in Milledgeville.
