The annual Field Day at G. M. C.
was the most exciting that has ever
been witnessed here.
The competition was between the
companies, and was very warm. The
companies had been training for a
month, and as a result company “B”
was the winner, scoring 56 Vis points,
followed hy company “A” with 48 li
points, company “D” with 15 and
company “C” with 14 points. A hand
some loving cup was presented to the
winning company by Mrs. Robert G.
Cousley.
The hundred-yard dash was won by
S. J. DeWitt in 10.2 seconds, R. G.
Riden second and Cecil Frisby third.
Lieutenant Dixon Williams won the
military equipment race, followed
closely by L. H. Hilliard and F. Van-
landingham. The 220-yard dash was
won by Lieut. J. W. Mobley; R. G.
Riden second and F. Fitts third. S.
M. Johnson broke the record by
throwing the shot 30 feet and eleven
inches; DeWitt was second and H. A.
Floyd third. The shoe race was car
ried off by J. 0. Parks; 0. W. Dor-
ough took second place and W. C.

the low hurdles. IIis time was 16 sec
onds; second and third place were
Won by R. T. Collins and S. J. De-
M itt. The 440-yard dash was very
close, Mobley being first, C F. Stiles
second and D. Williams third. The
high jump was a tie between R. T.
Collins and S. J. DeWitt, who Jump
ed ■ ) ft. 2 inches. Second place was a
tie between J. W. Sand ford and C.
Frisby. Running broad jump first
place war, won by S. J. DeWitt who
jumped 19 feet 7 inches; H. A. Floyd
second and C. Frisby third. Z. S. Nor-
yille won the standing broad jump by
jumping 9 feet 4Vs inches; S. J. De
Witt and C. Frisby coming second
and third respectively.
Individual prizes were given by all
of the leading bu.dness houses of Mil-
ledgeville.

as the property of Ed King and John
