Tic City Council of MillcdKcvIUe will hold » holiness meeting Thurs- day night. The recently elected members of the Board of! Aldermen, as well na the present members will be in at tendance at this meeting. Naming iffictrs for the ensuing year will be taken up and will be agreed upon. The officers to be named ‘are the chief of police, policemen, clerk and treasurer, street overseer, sexton, keeper of fire engine, chief of fire department, firemen and superintnd- ent of water works. The City Council will meet again Friday morning and Capt. J. H. En nis will be sworn in as mayor for another term of two years, and Mi mot L. H. Andrews, M. E. Pen. nington and S. D. Stcmbridge will be given the oath as Aldermen for a term of four years. The officers nnmininated the night before will then be elected. The report is that there are a num ber of applicants for the office of Chief of Police and policemen. DOYLE DOWNS. OF LAURENS COUNTY MEETS DEATH UN. DER OVERTURNED LUMBER TRUCK IN THIS COUNTY. Doyle Downs, aged 1C years, was killed in .an automobile accident in the northeastern part of the county Tuesday afternoon. .A lumber track which he was driv ing turned over, and he was crushed to death. • The accident occurred in front of the home of the late Mr. Samuel B. Collins. Young Downs was a son' of Mr. *»eo. L. Downs, of Dexter, and was visiting his uncle, Mr. W. F. Downs, who is engaged in the lum ber business in northeast Baldwin. Us remains were carried to Dexter for burial. CAPT. J. H. ENNIS WILL SERVE SECOND TERM AS MAYOR Greensboro, Ga.—Work on State Route No. 15, from Greensboro to Sparta, is expected to commence nt once. The route is complete from Athens to Greensboro. Ij is a link of the Detroit-Jacksonviile highway. A joint meeting of the commis sioners of Greene and Hancock coun_ ties was recently held for the pur- poye of discussing further the pro posed highway route from Greens boro to Sparta. In many instances -utomobiles werr unable to travel Monday on account of the radiators r ~»*e*fng while the cars were being driven. * The cold wave seemed to hove been general throughout the coun_ try, and In the colder sections sever al deaths are reported from freezing. The temperature remained below freezing all day Monday and through out the night, and Tuesday morning was very little if any higher than it was the previous day. However, during the day.
