‘ h£N PLAN to be used here.
C A. NESMITH EXPECTS TO
PRESENT plan soon.
Milledgeville, Ca., February- 18. 1926
No. 28
rjje plan that brought a people
were facing bankruptcy into
rity ana happiness will be
n„;i in this county uccordinR to an
,uncement made by Farm Agent
£_ A. Nesmith* this week.
Mr. Nesmith has been working on
A plan of diversification in this coun
tv since coming here last year. He
ha- closely studied the needs and at
t«(- beginning of the present year
ht announced his plan to organize
tbf different cltfbs in the county,
thus promoting a plan that would
c j\T the farmer independence and
rtturn to him the biggest revenue.
The Turner county plan of the
C«k, H«g and Hen has been definite
ly decided upon as the safest and
El ort promising program to follow.
This plan will be outlined and sub-
LjUed to the Farmer’* Club at an
tarly date for their approval, and
nil] then be presented to every farm
er a the county with instructions ju
t(. tlr way to follow this method in
■ rde-r that the greatest benefits may
It derived.
The First National Bank is spon
soring a Boy>' Corn and Cotton Club
again this* year and together with
this Mr. Nesmith hopes to be in a
position at an early date to organize
a pig club furnished the members,
•■n-d gilts from registered stock, and
-I poultry club, buying for the mem-
•vr» a hundred baby chicks each with
brooders for raising. Wherever pos-
*r?le he urges a small dairy herd
-'■‘■re the cream can be shipped and
tie skimmed milk can be fed the
big* and chickens. Milk fed chick-
bring a much higher price.
To carry the plan out it is neces
sary that the farmer plant his silage
«nd hay to take care of the stock
ued. The plan is self-supporting,
raking the fanner independent.
Baldwin county has shown a great
awakening in her farming and truck
ing interest the part several months

LANIER FIVE
HERE FRIDAY
FAST MACON TEAM TO MEET G.
M. C. ON LOCAL COURT. THEY
ARE STRONG CONTENDERS
FOR G. L A. A. TITLE.
The basketball season will reach
its climax Friday night when the
Lanier High five of Macon, meet the
local basketeers to give the local tins
I the most hotly contested and fast
est game of the season,
i The Lanier team is a strong con
tender for the <G. I. A. A. title and
unless a dark horse appears on the
| scene they are scheduled to win the
tournument that begins hi Macon
next week. The local five is working
hurd to cop this gumo. They real
ize the feather in their cap should
they come out victorious and they are
exerting every energy to be primed
and ready to give Lanier their worst
fight of the season. The two schools
are old rivals in every form of sport
and the local school ir. still smarting
from the defeat handed them in their
last second of the football game last
! fall and they have revenge in their
heart and the battle of the season
j will certainly be staged.
The hostilities will get under way
promptly at 8:30. The arena will be
heated und fans far and wide ure
Hocking for the game—by far the
i best of the. season. Every fan be
tomooilfcs passing them.
Policeman terry slated that ttie
Jaw in reference to lights would be
strictly enforced without further
warning. Ail trucks must have
blight lights on the front and a tab
light. Drivers of trucks who vio
late this law will be prosecuted. Mr.
Terry stated that lumber trucks
must stack their loads in such a
manner that the lumber will not
slick out on the sides endangering
automobiles that pass them.
There are only a few days left be
fore the law regarding new tags will
be enforced. Auto owners have un-
‘ til the first of March to get these
tags. The tag must either be on the
cor or have been ordered by that
time. Failure to do this will bring
a small fine.
Joint Committees from the City
Council and Kivvanis Club will in
vestigate the possibilities of con
verting the Moran springs ir.to a
recreation ccr.ter within the next
week.
The City Council will make it?
decision in this matter March 1st.
This property will probably be
sold if the city decides not to use
it, as outside interest are desir
ous of purchasing it.
