UNION RECORDER. MILLEDGEVILLE. GA.. OCTOBER 20. 1*27.
■: i
ON THE SIDE
Nothing adds more t«> the beauty
of a community than preen grass. It
a notes life'and every lawn and park
way in Milledgeville should be well
carpeted v.i h a grass. There i# no
color rr.t re restful and soothing to
thi eve than prates preen and the
women < f Milledgeville could do
nothing that would add more to the
attractiveness of Millerigeville than
o begin beautifying their streets,
since h*.c paving ha- been completed.
J. L. Sibley, Milledgeville'* secre
tary of the Chamber of Commerce,
comes forward with the suggestion
ol a Home Coming Week for G. M.
C. next year, when the noble insti
tution rounds out fifty years of hon
orable and valued service to the
state and the entire southland in
educating the young.
We endorse this movement
heartily and with our endorsement
goes that of many thousands in all
parts of the south and nation. We
are much concerned as to the where
abou'.s of many of the young men
who left the institution with us. It
hasn't been eo many moons «nce
we were ending our career at G. M.
C., but in the short span of years
the class lias become greatly scat
tered hv'. no few of them are mak
ing a mark for themselves in the
world. It was a elm* numbering
more than fifty and only four of
them still remain in Milledgeville, a
prcachi r, doctor, groccryman, bank
er, ar.d ye scribe. Despite the fact
thit we have tried to keep in touch
with the rest, our success has been
poor and we could hardly account
for more than five others.
