Will Haea Charge of Thu Paper Janaarjr 19th The class of Journalism of the Georgia State Collie for Women will have charge of the issue of the Union Recorder on January 19th. Thi« class is composed of a num ber of bright young women, who have been studying journalism the past several months under the direc tion of Prof. W. T. Wynne, and we kav e gladly given them the oppor tunity to get out the Union Recorder on the date mentioned above. Each member of the class will be assigmd to special work, and it can be expected that they will publish a real paper. The editorial writers will select their own subjects to discuss, and the state and local news writers will give the latest happen ings and events. It can be expected that the issue of the Union Recorder of January the 19th, will be roost interesting and entertaining. Thu mechanical force of the paper will lend the young lades every as sistance in making the paper of thut date a most attractive issue as to its arrangement and printing. We assure our readers that th'-y have something to look forward to a real and up-to-date paper. GRAND HIGH PRIEST HERE NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT Hon. W. Frank Wells, Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons will visit the local chapter next Tuesday night for the installation of the new officers for the coming year. Mr. J. T. McMullen will be install ed as High Priest. The wives of the Masons will be their guest at c sup per which will be served before the installation ceremonies. Miss Olivia Mathis died at her home in this city early Wednesday morning, after an illness of only a few days. Misy Mathis became ill on Sun day, but was apparently getting •along very well until Tu« sduy morn ing when she had a slight stroke of paralysis. From that time she grew weaker until her vitality gradually yielded to the grim reaper. The funeral services were held at the residence Thursday morning at eleven o’clock, Rev. H. I). Warnock and Rev. J. F. Yarbrough officiating. The remains were buried on the fam ily square in the city cemetery, the pall-bearers being Messrs T. B. Du mas, J. R. Stanley, J. R. Smith, J. C. Ingram, A. W. Watkins, W. R. Dun ham and S. D. Stembridge. Miss Mathis was seventy-two years of age and was born in Putnam coun ty, her parents being the late Mr. ind Mrs. W. H. Mathis. She came to Milledgcville a pumber of years ago, with her father’s family and in recent years has made her home with her brother, Mr. Reid Mathis, and sister. Miss Sadie Mathis. She lend a quiet home life, giving her time ind thought to household duties perform ing them faithfully. Those who knew her best loved hrr the most. She was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by two broth ers, Mr. Reid Mathis, of this city, and Mr. Will Mathis, of Jones coun ty, and two sisters. Miss Sadie Math is, of this city, and Mra E. W. Jor dan, of Ssndersville.
