Many people are constantly making

There is no better healthful exer

PARROT ONCE PET OF TWO NEW YORK FARMHOUSES |
PRESIDENT HARRISON DATE TO THE PIONEER lSSOs
Omaha, Neb., Mar. 19.— (Auto
caster)—Polly, 70-year-old African
parrot now belnoging to John
Metcalf of Omaha, belonged to Presi
dent Benjamin Harison when he
occupied the White House. At that
time the bird was said to be at least
thirty years old.
Polly tgil! remembers many of
her presidential master’s sayings
and other White House lore. “The
President” is one of the old bird 1
frequent outbursts, as are “where
that boy Rob?” and “that Rus
sian.” Harrison used to go through
the White House looking for
and saying: "Where is that boy
Rob?” When a certain Rusaii
called on him he would call him
“that Russian.”
Bromagrove, England, Mar. 19.—
(Autocaster) — Automobiliats and
others who had fleeting glimpses of
green sheep in the pastures of W. E.
Dodd assumed that they had been
treated with some new colored sheep
dip. The green, it has been reveal
ed, was natural grass in a flourish
ing condition.
Investigators reported that the
sheep, in feeding around the hay
stacks in an old hay field, had shaken
down a large number of seeds which
took affect in their wood. The seeds
germinated rapidly and began their
natural grkwth.
As ft irehehed a length where is
eouMt be kibbled, the grass
nibbled off each sheep's hack by
other sheep!

for the eighteen years of her lfie,
because of injured optic nerves,
suddenly gained her vision as she
was sitting before her radio.

New York, N. Y., Mar. 19.—(Auto
caster)—Dr. James E. Boyle of the
New York State College of Agricul
ture hus conducted a contest in ord-
to find out the oldest New York
farmhouse. A farmhouse built in
1684, owned by Mrs. Jay Downs of
Southampton, Suffolk County, L. L,
was judged to be the oldest in the
state. The house is in good condition.'
Another house built about the same
time as the Downs h«use is tne old
Mabie house at Rotterdam Junction, I
Schenectady County. Local his
torians do not agree on the date it
was built, except that it was be
tween 1680 and 1690. Mabiea have
lived in the house until the last
twenty-seven yean, and the property
is still in the some family ownership.
