The effort to organize a Junior Chamber of Commerce among the young men should be oarried to suc cess. Great results can be accomp lished by such an organization. The progress of this city is united to them, us they are the mud sill of whut advancement the city makes. Our citizens must stand by them, and See that they make greater achievments. The Parks Memorial Hospital which was dedicated in a beautiful piece of architecture, and will be a blcsisng to members of the young women of Georgia. Of the Club's 800 members, all of whom were invited to the unnual meeting in Macon, there are 600 white veterans and about 200 colored. A number of local employes of the Control of Georgia are enrolled in the railroad's organization of vet- 1 erans, and several of these will make the trip to Macon. Among the local members of the Club are: Judge J. E. Pottle, local counsel, Dr. T. M. Hall, local surgeon, and D- M. Rogem, local agent, A. D. Roach Tuesday evening when the members of the Methodic church gave a reception in their honor at the Methodist church. Receiving the guests were Rev. and Mr-. J. S. Grahl, Rev. and Mr.*- T. M. Callaway, Mr. and Mrs. J. I.. Evans and Prof, and Mrs. G. S. Roach. Mrs. George T. Betts had charge of the registrar and all guests registered in the high nchool annual, The Ace. Beautiful music was render ed hy some of Ashburn’s well known musical artists. Miss Hazel Turner rendering an organ solo, Mrs. J. J. Story .and Mrs. H. I. Shingler a vo cal duet. The orchestra represented by Mrs. Annelle Murphy, Mrs. J. A. Comer .Mrs. G. C. McKenzie ,Mr. George Johnston, Mr. Maurice Grahl, Mr. Henry Nixon Jarman and Mr. Frank Murray gave several enjoyable numbers. Dr. J. H. Baxter paid a beautiful tribute to Prof, and Mrs. G. S. Roach, dwelling especially on the noteworthy service Prof. Roach had rendered the school, the church, the civic organiza tions. He applied the following quo tation to him: “A man that's clean inside and out: who neither looks up to the rich nor down to the poor; who can lose with out squealing and who can win with out bragging; who is considerate of women, children, and old people; who is too brave to lie, too generous to cheat, and who takes his share of the world and lets the others have theirs, is a gentleman.” Miss Josephine Evans gave one of her bright and inimitable toasts t*. Prof, and Mrs. Roach, not forgetti n? Master George, Jr., and baby Mar>- Anne. Mr. J. L. Evans in a few well chosen words presented a gift and re membrance. a silver electric coffee sen-ice set. donated by many frenids. Delightful sandwiches and punch were sen-ed to the large crowd pres- ent. MOZART MUSIC CLUB The fourth meeting of the Mozart Music Club met with Agnes Gibtwn Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock. The meeting was called to order by president Evelyn Shenly. the busi ness was first taken up after which the following program was present ed: Solo—Mighty Lak a Rose—Mrs. Charley Gibson. Piano Solos—Murry Floyd Penn ington nad Agnes Gibson. The life of Boch was given by Miriam Gheewling. After which delightful refresh ments were served the meeting was adjourned.
