Mrs. Herbert Hood and son Lamar, of Valdosta, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Veal. Mr. and Mm O. F. Veal have re- umed home after a months stay in Jacksonville, Fla., where they visited Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Veal. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Johnson were called to Dublin Wednesday by a message that Mrs. Johnson’s brother had had his back broken in dent. Misses Jerre and Elizabeth Moort, of Palmetto, Fla., and MisM Catherine Cater of Macon, arc visiting their aunts. Misses Nettie and Mattie Moore. Mr. L. L. Wright, Manager of the Macon, Ga., District of the Metro politan Life Insurance Company, w in the city Monday and Tuesday of this week, visiting Mr. Arthur Torrance, agent for his company, and getting acquainted with their policy holders of the city. Mrs. Frank Bone has returned from Chattanooga, where she was called on account of the critical ill ness of Olive Bell Davis. Mrs. Bone brought the news that the little girl’s condition way improving, and it was hoped that she would rapidly regain her health and strength. Capt L. D. Brown and little son are visiting the family of Judge John T. Allen. W. will read with interest the following announcement which appeared in the Atlanta Jour nal of Sunday. out the South i» that made by Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Goodson, of Dawson, Ga., of the engagement of their daughter, Oma, to Rev. John M. Nor ris, of Monroe, La., formerly of Kan- City, Mo. The wedding will be slomenizcd the latter part of July. Miss Goodson graduated at the Georgia State College and since her graduation has been a member of the faculty and secretary of the Y. W. C. A. She also has studied at the Y. W. C. A. National Training School and has taken post graduate work at EmoTy University Summer School. Mr. Norris attended Emmy Uni versity, where he received his Ph. B. and B. D. degrees. Both Mr. Nor ris and Miss Goodson have volun teered for foreign service, Mr. Nor ris having recently received his ap pointment to Seoul, Korea, where he will probably be ai the Seoul Theological seminary. Mr. Norris is assistant pastor of the First Street Methodist church, Monroe, La., and the Gordon Avenue Methodist. The marriage of Miss Goodson and Mr. Norris will be solomnizcd late in July at the Dawson Presbyterian church. They will sail August 11th, on th< President McKinley from Seattle Washington for Korea. ^ . v, . Brantley, of Valdosta, was here Wednesday, attending a meeting of the Trustees of the State Sanitarium. He left the city for a trip to Gainesville and points in North Carolina for a needed rest from his labor-* as editor of the Valdosta Times. Mrs. David Ferguson and Miss Betty Ferguson left Monday for New York from where they will sail for a tour of the old world. They will visit Europe and will go to Egypt nad the Holy Land. They were joined in New York by Miss Horsbrugh and Miss Sophia, who will spend several months in Paris and Rome studying violin, under the Masters. Misses Millie and Margaret Napier left Tuesday for New York, where they will sail on the 23rd of this month for a tour of Europe. Miss Margaret Napier graduated at Coush er in Baltimore the past year, and is one of Baldwin county’s most at tractive young women. Misses Napier were accompanied to Macon Rev. and Mrs. J. T. WilliamTslis- sionarics to Chir.a. with their home at Shanghai, are in the -city visiting Mrs. William’s sister, Mrs. Floyd Hendrickson. Rev. and Mrs. Wil liams are at home for a short rest, after an absence of seven or eight Miss Maymie Norwood is expect ed home next week. She has been attending the young peoples confer ence at Agness Scott College, Deca tur, Ga. Miss Norwood was sent as a delegate by the Women's Auxiliary of the Presh *rian church. Johnson, of this city, and possesses an attractive personality. Being bright and vivaci ous she has number* of friends, in this city and Augusta. Mr. Turner is well known and highly thought of in his home city.
