MIU.EOCIV1UJ, GA., JULY i, It2, FAMILY REUOON MANNING Family altars and the daily reading of God’s word will not solve the problem of Christianity in the home. Certainly daily worship in a necessary factor for every home if it would be Christian. Despite this fact we have scores of Methodists homes in which More days, weeks, months, years go by' p ray er, worship in the home will not solve the problem of Christianity in the home, though we believe this step absolutely necessary. Christianity does not consist in w*orship alone. After the daily periods of worship come the more difficult periods of living out the ideals of the one wor shipped. The Pharisee in the temple was an ideal worshipper, but was far from being a Christian in his living. incing than an eloquent impressive than a ferv- without ,ny effort on the pert of the I ent xrmm _ raore rff , ctive [h „ ^ parents or children to worship God. .... .... . _ ... in the hotne. Many who subscribe to secular papers and periodicals and find time to read them do not even subscribe to their own church paper- These same parents will look into their pastor’s face and declare that our church papers cost too much, or that if they had the church organ coming into the home weekly they would not have time to read it. May our Allwise Father send a dart fiction into the hearts and minds fo those parents who are fail ing to give their children a chance to be worthwhile Christians because of a lack of Christian literature in the home. We repeat, however, that daily ‘Jesus won imividuab with this kindly, attitude, His forgiving spirit, Hh/ sympathetic understanding. His tolerant viewpoint, rather than with long prayers, formal worship and hypocritical adoration of the Father. There are many thoughtless, sin ful, Godless boys and girls in our homes today, over whom the preach er and Sunday School have no power, that can be saved by some one in the home, a father, sister, mother, broth er. A severe lecture may do no good a loud prayer may seem of no avail, but the life of one who lives like Christ will not and cannot fail to ultimately have its effect. Christians ought to pray and read God’s Word in the homo, ia fact they will, but Christ says. “Not every one that sayeth unto me Lord. Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that doeth the will of My Father which is In Heaven." Hundreds of parents in our own section are bewailing the wayward ness of our present day boys and girls, and yet they give no part of their time each day in praying with and instructing their own children. Are the boys and girls to be blamed? Our prayer to God should be that “homes" might be saved. String Money by Purchtiing Cheep Insurance I, Like Seeing Time by Stoppng The Clock C. H.
