PLANE FOUND ON IRISH COAST TRANSALLANTIC FLIERS Akron, O., Dec. 17.—A grim, storm tossed, reminder of the relent less wrath of Neptune was washed up on the Irish coast, near Donegal, recently emphasizing again the reck less courage of ocean fliers and the* tragic results of their futile efforts to win fame. A landing gear of an airplane floating from sc.ne tragic spot in the Atlantic Ocean, by the support of the tires still inflated ami in a good state of repair, reminds th. world of the end that came to the Hon. Elsie Mackay and Captain Wal ter Hinchcliffe who attempted a Trans-Atlar.tic flight from Cranwell, England, on March 14, thin year. By process of elimination and a complete knowledge of airplane tires that were landing gear equipment on planes that suffered ill-fated ends in attempted ocean hops, Goodrich officials established beyond reason able doubt that the tire that the sen gave up was on the ill-fated Stinson plane flown by Capt. Hinchcliffe with Miss Mackay aboard. Where the plane went down will never be i known, but it is established that the j inflated tire tossed about on the ocean for about nine months andI finally found its native element. How j far the tire and gear rode the waves ill never be known. Goodrich Silvertown airplane tires' do Lindy’s plane to fame and hung above the ocean on the “Southern Cross” that made sensational history from the Pacific Coast to New Zea- [ land by way of Honolulu and Aus tralia. Now from the Irish Coast they remind the world of a fearless girl and a courageous pilot whose am bition and courage were greater than their luck; closing the final chapter of their fate. Our thei .
