She met the duties as a wife and mother with devotion and tenderness. She is survived by her husband and ro children, Mrs. Leila M. Ray, and Alvin L. Tanner, two grandchildren, one brother, Mr. T. M. Brake, and one sister, Mm Claud Tanner, and several half brothers and sisters, among whom are Mrs. Lena Dozier of thie city. The sympathy ol our people have gone out to Mr. Tanner and the others, who have been bereaved suddenly and sadly. King, Jr., in Carrollton last Thursday. Midshipman Robert Taylor, of the United States Naval Academy is spending the holidays with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor at Hardwick. Col. and Mrs. C. B. McCullar and little daughter spent the Christmas holidays in Richland with Mrs. Mc- Cullar’s parents. Mrs. McCullar and daughter will return home Sunday. Mias Lollic Mays, of this city and Mr. Claud Phelps of Greensboro, united in marriage Monday at the Baptist Pastorium, Rev. H. D. Warnock officiating. The bride is the youngest daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Mays, and n attractive and pretty young lady. The groom is an employee of the Georgia Railroad. The primary department of the Methodist Sunday School enjoyed n beautiful Christmas tree exercises Sunday morning. The tree contain ed gifts for all the children, and presented a scene of rare lovliness. Mr. and Mm Sim Wright, of Staunton, Va., arrived Christmas day to spend the holidays with Mrs. Wright’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Beeson. Mrs. Wright will spend a month here, Mr. Wright returning to Virginia this week. Mr. E. R. The report from Mr. Hooten thi« morning is thst he was thought to be slightly better. Miss Alice Hall lef‘ Wednesday for Atlanta to join Miss Mae Asbury for a trip to California.
