THE HISTORY CLUB PRESENTS
THE ARRIVAL OF KITTY”
A La.ge and enthusiastic audience
witnessed the farcical play, “The Ar-
rival of Kitty” presented Saturday
evening at the G. S. C. W. auditorium
by the History club.
The plot of the play centers around
a Mr. WinkLr's attempt to marry his
niece, Jane, to a Mr. Mare of New
York City, that he may himself profit
financially, thereby. But Bobbie
Baxter, a young college fellow, is in
love with Jane, and to stop the old
uncle’s plans dresses up as Kitty, an
actress, with whom the latter is in
love. The arrival of the real Kitty
complicates matters and produces
many screamingly funny situations.
Every part was well carried out by
the cast, but Clara Carswell as Mr.
Moore, Annie Joe Maye as Bobbie
Baxter, Julia Reese as Mr. Winkler,
and Martha Bass as Kitty were ex
ceptionally good. Others taking part
were Lizzip Mje Gammage* Jose
phine Proctor, Kathryn Harris and
Idolc-ne Cosby, “Jimmie" Scott, the
canine added his bit by appearing in
one of the scenes. The play was
directed by Dr. Amanda Johnson.
It was a benefit performance for
the Y. W. C. A. The returns make
it possible to replace htc three hun
dred and fifty association hymnals
destroyed by the fire in the old class
room building five years ago.
