Many well known educator* who arc num- brrd am ng our pacifists have urgu- id against it on the grounds that it heeds war. On the other hand there ar»- many- equally well known men of culture who look at it in a saner tone, camely that of health and the attention to detail necessary in a peaceful and useful life. Let's look at it in a broadminded way. Suppose we say that there are the Let i i in high school, is in a school who's curriculum :ain> compulsory military train- the other in a school that has Ttilitary training, containing only usual form* of athletics. Both of «. boys start school when their J* and bodies are still in a forma- , -j«id. What if their mind- i diligence is equal? What is re ult of the military trainng on one a* aganst the lack of it on other? j on ourselves. It teache- self relianc*. also self control, of which many of jus ha\c not enough, and lack of . which has caused grief untold, and sorrow of the deepest to innocent people. Military training embrace* in its virtue, competion. L'ompetion sharpens the wits wakes up the dull-' ars and adds zest to the games of! military seience, the problems, their; purpose and final achievement. There are countless benefits to be derived. Neatness i* * requisite and ^ an admirable trait in anyone: this is' inherent in some people, must be taught other*, and in the final ona- ly-e* is an almost sure sign of self respect. Then again we n»ve a sense of honor.
