OLD LAND MARK FALLS
BEFORE TERRIFIC WINDS
Oak Tree at Forka of Lower Macoa
and Smith Mount Road Blown
Down by Winds Friday
Terrific winds that swept the
county Friday night tore away one
of the old land marks of the county,
n gigantic oak that had stood for a
century as far an can be determined
fell before the gale.
The oak standing to mark one of
the first trails that ran through the
county, now the lower Macon road
Wa . completely uprooted. The old
tr< t"od at the forks of the road
where the Macon highway branched
off around Smith’s fount to Dr.
Allen’s Sanitarium.
It is believed that the tree was
mu.’i. years beyond the century
mark.

,rth. Joe says it
How many people can grade cotton? There are 26 different
grades, and the money difference between them is great.
How many people are in constant touch with the world’s largest
cotton buyers and with a market that changes nearly every
minute? You need a reliable and experienced man in Augusta
(one of the world’s largest markets) to insure your cotton
bringing the highest price.
The old method of each person selling their own cotton, by get-
ting local buyers to make an offer, and then just taking the
“Highest Bid" is recognized as bad business. For the simple
reason, the "Highest Bid" may be many dollars under the mar- 2$
ket value. £jj
Good roads and public trucks enable you to send your cotton /.
to me in a few hours. Immediate sale can be made, insuring you V
of the highest market price and prompt returns. Don’t give £
your cotton away by simply accepting the “Highest Bid" of j ^
locnl buyer in a small market. Let me show you results. X

Well—that’* out of my system.
The thought has just come to me
