CHAPLAIN'S REPORT The Hon. Prison Commission, Atlanta, Ga. Gzntlemen: I herewith submit my bi-monthly report for July and August, 1929, Our friends from many States continue to send us religious litera ture while the home-folks still re. member us. In addition to the maga zines which the ladies from churches ir. Milledgeville save, collect bring to us the editor of The Adpl News sends us a copy of that pap each week, while The Milledgeville Times sends us ten copies each ’ of their last edition, thus enabling me to place one in each sick ward, and dormitroy. We greatly appreciate this courtesy. Mr. O. L. Taylor, of Atlanta, Ga., who represents the Benj. Moore Paint Co., gave the Tuberculosis Hospital nine (gallons of wh^b “Uttlack,” to re-enamel the iron cots there. The value of this paint is $4.50 per gallon and the total do nation was $40.50. During the hot weather of July and August your Chapluin has n mnined at hi spost, and fifty-one ri ligious services have been held o the farm during these two month As a visable result thirty-soven me and women have accepted Chri't a their personal Saviour, and joined "The State Farm Religious Ass tion” and "The Pocket Testai League.” The Chaplain ha- been greatly aided in his work at the male camp by Dr. M. C. Mitchell, a colored prisoner, who is serving a life sen tence here. Dr. Mitchell is a con stant influence for good with the men of his race, and is greatly re spected by nil who know him well. He conducts a Sunday School with the colored men every Sabbath morn ing, and holds religious services every Sunday night, and a prayer meeting in mid-week in the colored dormitory. His services as .a Chris- tain worker, and as a physician are very valuable to the institution. Nineteen of the religious services were held >n the "Death Cells” with condemned men.
