P. S. Bivins filed a request with the officials of both the Cen tral of Georgia and Georgia Railroads asking for electric bell signals at all crossings in the county on the school truck route.-. Supt Bivins sited that the Double Branch errssing and the crossing at O. M. Ennis store on the Georgia, and a crossing at Merriwether, Stevens Pottery and Hancock street wer»* the most dangerous on the Central. The precaution was being taken to avoid any uccident tint might happen to trucks and other people who use routes r.ossing the railroad tracks at t'.ese points. The little blue flower is being ■old all over the country for the benefit of the diseabled veterans of the world war, and a group of Mil- ledgeville girls will conduct the sale .Saturday. Mr. A. D. Rieger, Field Represen tative of the National Red Cross, was in the city Tuesday night, and met with the Executive Committee of the local organization. He outlined the plans of the annual roll call, which starts Nov. 11th. The local Red Cross, during the past year, has -one splendid work in relieving suffering, and aiding those in distress, and it is planned to carry this work forward another year. MRS. S. A. Cook celebrated her eighty-sixth birthday last Sunday, a birthday dinner being served in her honor and a large number of friends and relatives called during the day. Mr?. Cook did not vary from her usual Sunday schedule attending the Methodist church Sunday morning. At noon Miss Callie Cook gave a dinner in her honor, having as guests immediate members of the Tamily. ' Friends from all sections of the state called or sent messages of con gratulations to the much loved and 'respected woman. ' The following were guests at the . birthday dinner: Mr. and Mr-. W. L. Cook, At lanta, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Proctor, and son Atlanta and Mr. Walton Cook of LaGrange. J. T. TERRY RESIGNS POST TO ATTEND UNIVERSITY Mr. J. T. Terry concluded his ser vices as County Policeman last week and is ndw a student at the State University, taking a course in law. Mr. Terry has served the county for many years as Deputy Sheriff bales had been ginned, and later as county policeman. He will spend about two years at the University. Layfield died at her home in East Baldwin Sunday. While she had been in feeble health for some time, her death was unexpect- - ed. Lsyfield was Miss Mamie Simp on, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Simpson cf East Bald, win.
