Ennis was fined nine hundred dollars and a year’s probution sentence. (‘apt. Ennis plead guilty to techni cal charges denying that he was morally guilty. He bOscd his de fense on the fact that the checks which he had cashed, and cused of forging names in order get the money, were cashed in order to get the money to pay for property which the men were short. Judge Dcavcr ruled that technically he was guilty, while he d ! d not believe it constituted a moral offense. A large number of Millodg< villc The Salvation Army opened its work in Milledgeville last Sunday af ternoon at the.Opera House, a large pathering of people being present, although a heavy rain hindered the attendance. The meeting wus opened with “On ward Christian Soldiers" sung by the audience to the accompatnmcnt of the G. M .C. Band that furnished several musical numbers under the direction of Major Osterman. Mrs. S. D. Stembridge, Mayor pro ne. | tern, acting in the absence of the I city’s Mayor welcomed the army here and introduced Envoy and Mrs. Edw P. Scovill who will have charge of the work in Milledgeville. Mrs. Adj. Chase pronounced the I invocation. Mrs. Chase is an offi- j cer of Macon. Rev. L. E. Roberts spoke briefly of the need of the work | P the two days called to Macon during ■ witnesses. On Saturday night, November 30, “The Russian Cosaack Chorus" has been secured for an evening per formance. Thia company of trained singers has made a name for itself in Europe and America. The leader is a graduate of some of the great est musical conservatories in Europe. The repertoire will consist of music of European and American compos ers, and an evening of rare enter tainment is in sture for all who at tend. This is not a Lyceum number.
