on Saturday afternon at a delightful
party in honor of Mrs. Emmett
Dames, Jr., of Forsyth and Mrs. Roy
Calhoun of Atlanta.

May Day—Child Health Day is be
ing sponsored in Milledgeville by the
members of the Medical Auxlltary
with much attention given to gain
ing the co-operation of parents in
the child health and protection pro
gram in the county.
One of the principal facts brought
before the people by the celebration
is the insistunt demand that evexy
child be registered and a birth certifi
cate secured. There is no fee ami
law making the registration compul
sory is now in force. The Child
Health Day goul will be the co-opera
tion of all parents in the health and
protection of childhood in the home,
the school and the community.
AN EPWORTH LEAGUE UNION
ORGANNIZED IN THE OXFORD
DISTRICT.
A band of Epworth Leaguers from
the Lt ague here joined with Leaguers
from other Leagues at Hillsboro
Sunday .afternoon for the purpose
of organizing a Union in this part of
the district The Leagues represent
ed were Hillsboro, Monticello, ami
Milledgeville. Other Leagues will be
included in this Union, however.
They are Haddock, Gray, Eatontun.
and Shady Dale.
The officers elected are: Presi
dent, Miss Mary Farr. Milledgeville;

REV. C. M. LIPHAM IN CITY
TUESDAY
Rev. C. M. Lipham, pastor of the
rxt ■ Methodist church at Newnan,
is in the city several hours of
Tuesday. He Was pasting through
the city on his way to Augusta, and
stopped over to meet his friends. Mr.
Lipham served os paster of the Mil
ledgeville Methodist church five
years, during which time he com
pleted the Sunday School room, and
erected the parsonage. At Newnan
he has ju?t completed a magnificent
church edifice and parsonage. The
friends who met him Tuesday gave
him a cordial welcome.
Mr. J. P. Humphries, who has pass
ed his three score years and ten took
a ride in nn aeroplane Sunday af
ternoon. It was his first trip in the

OFFICERS MARE RAID
In a raid into Baldwin county
Monday night, Federal prohibition
officers arrested five persons charg
ed with violation of the prohibition
law.
Mr. George Berry, proprietor of
Berry's Place on the Dam road was
a’-rested fo*- selling Jamaica Ginger.
Mr. Berry declared he did not know
as a violation of the law. Others
arrested were Henry Collins, Ben
Miller and Marion Eubanks, white
men and Teacup Birdsong and O. W.
Jackson negroes were arrested for
selling whiskey, Sheriff Haynie
stated.
