Allen’s Invalid Home showed the
largest increase in the county. The
population at the private hospital in
creased over one hundred per cent.
In 1920 the census showed ninety-
seven people living at the institution
and the recent statements show that
200 people now live there.
A comparison of figures for the
past thirty years show that Milledge
ville proper has jumped 4.219 in
1900 to 5,534 in 1930. This growth
has been within the past ten years.

The Oxford District Conference
will convene at the Methodist church
at Haddock Thursday and Friday of
next week.
Rev. Elam F. Dempsey, Presiding
Elder of the District, will preside,
and hea- the reports of the various
charges.
On account of the proximity of
the Conference to Milledgeville it
may be expected that a large num
ber of Methodist from Baldwin coun
ty will attend.

named at a church conference of
the Milledgeville Methodist church

Under the direction of Miss
Beatrice Hoshrough, the Peabody
Violin club will give their recital at
eight-thirty on the evening of May
27th. In the afternoon of the 27th
the elementary school will have their
class day exercises.
One of the largest classes in the
history of the Peabody school will
receive their diplomas on May 29th.
Three honor members of the class
will take part in the program.

The first honor graduate and valedic
torian is Miss Mary Mildred Wynn.
Other graduates who have won dis
tinction in scholarship are: Misses
Elizabeth Yarbrough, Elizabeth Hoot-
ten, Virginia Williams and Mary
Parker Stewart.
Miss L. R. G. Burfeitt will present
the diplomas to the class following an
address by Dr. J. L. Beeson.

MR. C. L GREENE STRICKEN
WITH PARALYSIS SUNDAY
NIGHT
p. C. E. Greene, one of Mil-
ledgeville's respected citizens,
critically ill at his home in this city.
Mr. Greene has been in declining
health some months, and Sunday
night he was stricken with paralysis.
Since being stricken he has been
semiconscious condition, and his
strength is gradually yielding,
children have been called to his bed
side. They are: Mrs. L. E. Hudson,
of Etowah. Tenn.; Mr. Robert Greene,
of Fairburn; Mrs. Robert Arnold, of
Winder; Miss Claire Gr*;ene, who
teaches in Albany, and Miss Louise
Greene, who teaches in Atlanta.
Mr. Greene has many friends in
Milledgeville, who are deeply
cerned about his condition, and
wishing for his recovery.

The Tennis Tournament, both sin
gles and doubles, that has been in
progress for several weeks came to
a dose last Wednesday at G. M. C.
