Orange Marmalade Biscuits
2 cups pastry flour (sifted before
mea-uring.)
4 teaspoons baking powder.
1 teaspoon salt.
4 tablespoons shortening.
2- 3 cup milk.
Sift flout^ baking powder, and
salt together. Cut in shortening un
til the mixture has the appearance
of coarse corn meal. Add milk stir
vigorously with a fork. Turn out on
floured board and knead the dough
until it is Mnooth. Roll out about
1-2 inch thick and spred the dough
with orange marmalade. Roll like a
jelly roll and cut in inch pieces.
Place pieces in buttered muffen tins
and hake 425 degrees for 15 to 20
minutes.
Pastry
2 cups pastry flour, (sifted before
measuring.)
3- 4 teaspoon salt.
1-2 teaspoon baking powder.
# 1-2 cup shortening.
Cold water.
Sift flour, baking and talt to
gether. Add shortening and work
in flour using two knives or a fork,
until the particles of fat are the size
of large peas. Add slowly cold
water, just enough to make a stiff
dough. Chill the pastry before roll
ing if there is time.

3 cups sour cherries.
1 1-2 sugar.
3 tablespoons minute lapico (roll
ed.) Mix and pour into pastry lined
tin. Set adjustable pointer at 450 de
grees. Turn oven bottom switch to
high and close circuit breaker. When

oven. Reset adjustable pointer to
475 degees and close circuit breaker.
Bake 45 minutes.
Zwieback Pie
1 box zwieback.
1 cup nut meats.
1-4 teaspoon cinnamon.
1-2 cup sugar.
6 tablespoons melted butter.
Roll zwieback or put through food
chopper and measure 11-2 cups. Roll
the nuts or put through food chop
per. Combine zwieback, nuts, sugar,
cinnamon and butter. Measure 1-2
cup of this mixture and set aside.
Add the remaining part of the
mixture to ii P inch pyrex pie plate
(be sure to use pyrex) arrange this
mixture in pie plate evenly over the
bottom and a* iund side. This forms
the crust of this pie.

Mushroom Meat Loaf
1 lb. veal ground.
I lb. smoked ham ground.
4 tablespoons tomato catsup.
3 tablespoons .finely chopped

1 cup mushrooms finely chopped.
2 beaten eggs.
1-2 cup milk.
1-2 teaspoon . L alt.
1-8 teaspoon pepper.
1 cup cracker crumbs.
Mix the 'ingredients thoroughly
together in the order given and

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Corn Padding
3 cups fresh or canned corn.
3 eggs heaten.
1 cup milk.
1 1-2 teaspoon salt.
1-8 teaspoon pepper.
2 tablespoons butter.
Combine ingredients and pour in-
buttered casscrrlc, lay strips of
oeminto or green pepper on top.
Fruit Salad Padding
I quart fruit salad, canned.
1-3 cup mcnitc tapioca.
1 tablespoons lemon juice.
1-4 cup sugar.
1 tablespoon butter.
Arrange fruit salad in a buttered
baking dish, sprinkle on the sugar,
dot with bits of butter and add the
tapioca. Pour over the top the juice

Serve while warm with whipped
cream.
Broiled Steak
Turn the oven top switch to high,
close circuit breaker and allow ten
minutes for preheating before plac
ing the meat in oven. Broiling pan
