MRS. J. P. HUMPHRIES PASSED MRS. IRA HEMPHILL DIED
AWAY SATURDAY NIGHT AT HARDWICK MONDAY
Mrs. J. P. Humphries passid away
at her home in north-west Baldwin
Saturday, March 28th, after an ex
tended illness, and her death did not
come as a surprise to her loved ones
and friends.
The funeral services were held at
the residence Sunday afternoon. Rev.
L. E. Roberts, pastor of the Milleune-
ville Baptist church, and Rev. Mr.
Henderson, of the Milledgeville Cir
cuit. officiating in the presence of u
large number of relatives friends and
neighbors of the deceased. The in
terment was in the Humphries
burial ground in Jones county.

Mrs. Hemphill was fifty-eight
years of ace. Her parent- were the
late Mr. Asa Simpson and Annie
Allen. A Bap- 1 Womble Simpson, of Hancock coun

No children having been horn to Mrs. Hemphill is survived by three

one of Mrs Humphries’sisters. Earn- son, W. A. Hemphill, all of Hard
est died in early manhood, and the (wick: three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Horton,
girl i.- now Mrs. Howard Most, of .Mrs. Clarence Roberts and Mrs. J. H. I
Columbia, S. C. She loved them as'Council, and five brothers, Mr. Sam

son, all of Hardwick.

During these years The made a
loving and devoted wife, assisting
and encouraging her husband as th?y
walked life’s path together. She was
a kind and considerate neijrhbor and
friend and was loved throughout the
section of the county in which she
lived.
Mr--. Humphries was a member of
the Milledgeville Baptist church and
was a true and loyal believer in the
teaching and tenets of that denomi
nation. She, however, attended ser
vices at Bethel and Pleasant Grove,
two Methodist churches, which were
conveniently located to her home,
and contributed to their support and
advancement Her life was one of
sen-ice, and was n benediction to
those whom it touched.
Mr-. Humphries is sunived by
Mr. Humphries, and one sister, Mrs.
J. B. Stiles and several nephews and
nieces.
They have the sympathy of friends
in the city and county.
