Judge James B. Park will be the
guest speaker at the meeting of
the Nancy Hart Chapter, D. A. R.
on h’Xt Tuesday afternoon at
home of Mrs. Y. H. Yarbrough.
The meeting will be the last for
the year as no meeting will be held
during the summer. Flag Day will
be celebrated and a special program
will be given to honor this occasion.
Judge Park will speak on Famous
Georgia Jurists.

Longino and Mrs. Homer Bivins will
be joint hostesses wivh Mrs. Yar

Chrfcnian Temperance Union held
the regular quarterly rally at Davis-
boro last Friday, June 9th. Mrs. A,
M. Vcigt, of Macon, ’hairman of
Sixth district, presided, and after the
reports from the different organiza
tions were heard, the work of the
department was discussed by the fol
lowing chairmen;

Lovett, Sandeftvile; International
relations, Mrs. W. L. Deck, Waynes
boro; Evangel irm and Scientific in
struction, Mrs. I. W. Newman, San-

Mrs. Florence Atkins, State Insti
tute chairman, gave very helpful
messages ir. regard to these depart
ments ,s*.nd also stressed the impor
tance of the Flower Mission depart
ment.
Mrs. Helen Atkins, state leader
of the Loyal Temperance Legion,
talked briefly on the work of the
Young people's department.
Rev. C. T. Gibbs of Davisboro led
the morning devotional and Mrs. D-
A. Warwick led in the singing. Mr.
R. L. McKinney of Macon brought
a rplendid message on "Should Geor
gia Have BeerT”
The meeting was dismissed with
the W. C. T. U. benediction.

CONVENTION
Eugenia Shy, president of the
Hattie Pottle Chapter C. of C., will
lead a delegation to Social Circl. on
Thursday to attend the state con
ference.
Laurctto Bone and Josephine
Bone have been named the delegate;
from the local chapter. Miss Eliza
beth Alford, who is state secretary,
will also attend from here. Lou:
Cox and Cornelia Stembridge a
also expected to attend the conven
tion.
Mrs. Frank A. Dennis is state di
rector of the C. of C.. and a most
interesting program has been ar
ranged for the meeting.

VISITS BROOKS SPRINGS.

worth league, with Mrs. Frank!
Quillian and Mr. Albert Quillian as
chaperones, motored down to Brooks
Springs Tuesday afternoon, and re-;
turned Wednesday afternoon. They;
carried with them provisions, cover- 1
ing and bathing suits, and occupied!
a cottage, which they had rented. 1
The reports are that the young peo
ple had a good time and enjoyed the
outing. They were accompanied to the I

MEETING HELD BY GIRL SCOUTS
The Girl Scouts of East Baldwin
county held their regular meeting |
Friday evening at 2:30. Their leader
being absent. Miss Agnes Brooks.'

They had one new member to join
them. Miss Editha Barnes. This new
member made a total enrollment of
twenty-th**e cheerful and willing
workers. A swimming party Friday,
June 9th, was also enjoyed.
ANNUAL RALLY OF W. M. U.
YOUNG PEOPLE.
The thirteenth annual rally of the
Young People’s organizations of the
W. M. U. of the Washington As
sociation was held at Sparta on
Tuesday, June 13, with Miss Kath
erine Tanner of Sandersville in
charge.
A most interesting program was
rendered both morning and after
noon, featuring many interesting
numbers from the various churches
in the amcciation. The morning de
votional was led by Doris Hitchcock
and special songs were sung by Miss
K : mble of the Sparta Y. W. A.,
Spnrta R. A), sunbeam merribers
from Tennile, Bethlehem and Sis
ters churches. Mrs. O. A. Thaxi
gave a demonstration of a sunbeam
meeting. The Tennile Y. W. A. gave
nr interesting rfeit. "Fundamentals
of W. M. U. Work.” The climax of
the morning program was the love
basket directed by Mrs. W. P. Har
rison of Linton. The children of the
association snng the love basket
song as they marched to the front
and deposited their gifts wh’ch they
had brought for the orphans, in the
Irve hnsket.
In the afternoon, Dr. L. E. Rob
erts talked on "The Young People’s
Part in the Mission Program”. Talks
on Stewardship were given by Sallie
Belle Garrett and Jewell Fowler.
Reports on the Y. W. R. encampment
nnd G. A. House Party were giv,
by Elizabeth McMahan and Margaret
Ethridge. The Milledgevillc R. A.
presented an interesting poster.

Rev. A. G. Harris, pastor of the
Millcdgeville Presbyterian church,
is spending this week in Cordele,
where he is assisting in revival ser-

Dr. Davis, pastor o-f the Cordele
church, will preach at the Presby
terian church in this city next Sun
day. Dr. Davis is an eloquent and
forceful preacher, and will be greet
ed by a large congregation.

BROUGHT COOLER WEATHER
There is now sufficient moisture
in the ground to give- new life and
vigor to growing crops. A heavy down
pour of rain fell in this section
Tuesday night, continuing for more
than hour.
During the night the wind blew
almost a gale, and one or two trees
were blown down in the city. There
was quite a change in the tempera
ture, and on Wednesday morning the
thermometer registered fall like
weather.
