The-e should mt be any he»i-
tar.cy on the par; of our citizens to
boost G. il. C. for it stands at the
head of Prep schools in the South.
There is little doubt but that bet
ter times have come : n this country,
and business has an upward trend.
Thet indications are that with the
arrival of fall prosperity will be in
full swing in this section.
v-e have the proof to carry out this
contention.
The honors and awards win by G.
M. C., are many. In its long record
of service there have been many
distinctions to come to the college
and its alumnae, but none :hat hav
equaled the three that have been
accomplished this year.

A LETTER FROM COL. SIBLEY
Editor of The Union-Recorder,
Milledgeville, Ga.
Dear Sir:
As -the writer looked over the
large audience in the Georgia Mili
tary College Chapel at the last com
mencement exercises over which you,
as Chairman of the Board of Trus
tees, presided so well, there waa a
modest, tranquil face in that audi
ence that brought to mind an in
debted™ a of this college that it
would do well to take notice of.
Due to her long and faithful and
competent service as a teacher in
he Grammar Grades, a majority of
the pupils of which become students
in the college classes, doubtless there
is not a living person to whom the
improvement and success of this col
lege is more indebted than it is to
Miss Julia Moore. As a former stu
dent of Miss Julia and later as one,
thrtugh contact with many who have
the undisputed state champion- : since been taught by her, has l^ept
ship. So in all departments the school in touch with her influence over
has excelled and been given the | those who have been her students,
highest rating and recognition for the writer ventures the statement
its efficiency. j ’hat there is no one in Milledgeville
We have long believed and often ; who h « contributed more to the
said that we did not believe there ! bcst character cf our good city,
was a ‘military school in the nation! Miss Julia teaches not only "book
that was ahead of G. M. C. Now
tion and happiness to them.
The rating has been won without
the school stressing the military de
partment and neglecting other de
part ment?v and this is another big
reason for the school authorities
feel doubly proud. The academic,
athletic and all other departments of
he school have functioned with
high standard of efficiency, while
1 the military department was gaining
this distinction. To show that this
is true, during the year G. M. C. has
h"en given the highest academic rat-
. ing of any essentially military ichocl
in fhc entire South. Graduates of
' G. M. C. attending colleges and uni
versities have had the lowest per
cent of failures of graduates from
any other military school. This dis-
, t'nction alone is worthy of highest
praise and warrant* the school >»u-
‘horities to rest on their laurels, but
' with these b sore the football team
won the state championship, defeat
ing the leading teams of Georgia

sixteen years ago and was organized

G. M. C. AN HONOR SCHOOL
Every citizen of Baldwin county
is happy over the news announced
by Col. George Roach that the Geor

college authorities that It with
great satisfaction that we learn of
the great honor that has cone to the
college and Milledgeville.
The rating that has given G. M.
C. by the War Department Is the
highest honor that it is in their
power to bestow. Only twentv schools
in the entire nation are selected for
this distinction and when th’« fact
is considered, it is with all the more
pride that we learn about It.
