new hoves have been erected in vari

making them possible on easy pay

The opening of the Georgia Mili

come from all sections of the State

their home here for the next nine

safe guard is thrown around them
to aid them in building manly char

Mr. T. H. Moore traveling repre

in Atlanta, was in the city several
days of last week visiting the local
office. While here he learned from
the patrons of the office that Miss
Nancy Holland was making a most
acceptable manager of the office,
and was rendering the most effei-
ent service as an operator, proving
courteous to the patrons, and giving
all business prompt and effective at

GRADING FINISHED ON SPARTA
HIGHWAY
Sparta. Ga., August 23 The
grading hns been completed on the
new highway front here to Dcvcraux
and it is hoped that the gravel will
be put on and this stretch
paved, completing a paved road from
here to Macon.
The state highway department hat,
promised this work just as soon as
the fills have nettled enough to hold
hard-surface treatment. The
highest fills were jetted and settled
with water pumped from the creeks
they crossed. An effort ia being made
now to get all right-of-way deeds
so that the state highway convict
unit may start on the sector from
here to Jewell. Only this .distance
from Devereux to Warren ton re
mains now of the unpaved “gap”
between Macon and Augusta by the
shorter route.
This is the highway approved by
the government engineer?* and is
considerably shorter than the route
by Sandersville and Louisville. Lo-
civic leaders and city and coun
officials are making every effort
to keep this highway work going
AD FINDS LOSER OF MONEY
"Found a small amount of money.
Apply at this office”. This ad was
brought to The Union-Recorder
«*ffice by Judge B. C. Ward and ap
peared in its last issue. The paper
had been in the mail only a
hours Thursday morning before the
first inquiry was made, with the
statement that the person inquiring
had lost an amount cf money and
before the Jay had passed there had
been six calls, at The Union-Recorder
office. Among those calling
Mrs. C. L. Boyer, who had dropped
from her purse on the side walk in
front of the Miller Stores the exact
amount found by Judge Ward, four
one dollar bills folded together. Mrs.
Boyer was happy in recovering the
money, and waa glad that it had
fallen in the hand of an honest man.
