Hunters in Baldwin county and
all over Georgia took to field and
woods Monday and inaugurated the
quail season with a great burning of
gunpowder and a general rain of
small shot over the wide open u*
Casualties among the quali family is
running high, not to raenton the
legged jores and woodpeckers that
are in evidence as an aftermath of
the momentous occasion.
From Monday unti March 1st Mr.
and Mrs. Bobwhite will be in more
or less imminent danger, depending
upon the marksmanship of the indi
vidual hunters. AU other game birds
and animals in Georgia likewise are
outlawed for the time being, al
though an exception is made in the
case of summer or wood ducks.
The->3 waterfowl may not be killed
at any time of the year.
Every hunter must have a license.
Lacking one he is liable to a fine or
jail sentence, if apprehended by a
game vardert.

and for the purpose of making dis
tribution of said estate.

the South by lot of Joe Harris form
erly owned by R. L- Wall; and on
the Wert by Liberty Street.
Said lot being the same as that
conveyed to Faraba Daniel by P. P.
Jackson as recorded in Deed Book
7, folo 262, of tho Clerk’s office of
Baldwin Superior Court.
The security deed aforesaid was
given to secure the payment of a
promissory note tow the principal
sum of $418.97, dated April 11,
1931, due twelve months from date,
bearing interest from date at 8 per
cent per annum, signed by I raba
Daniel and payable to Martin Har
ris.
Said note not having been paid in
accordance with its terms, and be
ing in default, and »id Faraba Dan
iel having failed to pay tax os on the
aforesaid lands, the power of
contained in said deed has become
operative.
There will be due on said note on
the date of sale, including taxes
paid by the undersigned, and the
cost of this proceeding the son
$588.98, and sale will be made for

graduates of G. S. C. W. will come
back to the campus Thanksgiving
day to take part in the annual
“Home Coming” celebration on the
campus.
Plans arc being made for the en
tertainment of the students who arc
expected to begin arriving late Wed

morning. The campus is expected to
be the scene of happy reunions of
students who have gone from the
college and have come back for
visit to the campus.

TAX LEVY
Upon motion the following order
levying taxes for County purposes
for the year 1988 waa passed.
Whereas, the stato tax for the
year 1938 Las been levied by the
proper authorities, which tax ha*
been fixed at four mills on esch dol
lar of taxtble property in ssid state;

Whereas, the total value of prop
erty returned for taxation in Bald
win County for the year 1933 is $4,-
441,517.00.
It is therefore considered, ordered
and adjudged that there be levied,
and there is hereby levied, upon all
property returned for taxation in
Baldwn County and upon all prop
erty subject to taxation by said
County, a tax of 1 1-2 per cent, that
is to say, tax of 16 mills upon each
dollar of the value thereof, which
levy is made for County purposes
for the year 1933, and is in addition
to thje school taxes hereinafter
levied.
Said County tax is levied for the
following purposes and in thn fol
lowing r.mounts:
1. To pay Jurors a tax of 5-100
per cent or 5-10 mills.
2. To pay Bailiffs a tax of 4-
1000 per cent or 4-100 mills.
3. To pay inquest* a tax of 2-
1000 per cent or 2-100 mills.
4. To support prisoner* in jail a
tax of 3-100 per cent or 8-10 mills.
5. To support paupers, a tax of
1-10 per cent or 1-00 milL
6. To pay the legal fees and sal
aries of County officer* 10 per cent
or 1.00 mill.
7. To furnish supplies for Coun
ty oficcrs, a tax of 14-1000 per cent]
or 14-100 Mills.
8. To construct and repair pub-j
lie road* ,a tax of 4-10 per cent,
4 mills.
9. To build and repair public
bridge*, a tax of 4-10 per cent, oi
4 mills.
10. To repair pubic buildings,
275 100 per cent or 2.75 mills.
11. To pay the salary and ex
pense of the Health Commissioner
125-100 per cent or 1.25 mills.
Total 15. mills.
In addition to the above to
is ordered that there be levied and
assessed upon each dollar of Die
value of taxable property in said
county a tax of 6-10 per cent or 6
mills for the support of the pnblie
schools of said County for the year
1933.
And that there be levied and as
sessed upon each dollar of the value
of taxable property in the Cooper-
vitle school District of fiaid County a
tax of 1-20 per cent or 1-2 will for
the support of the public school in
said district for the year 1988.
And the Tax Collector of said
County is ordered to atoess and col
lect for the nse of tile County and
the schools of said County the taxes
hereinbefore levied.
This order passed In open Court,
this 6th day of September, 1988.
