tle Post of the American Legion had
a child welfare rally on Tuesday af-
ternon. Representatives of all the
clubs und organisations of Baldwin
county were present. Mrs. Edwin
Allen, chairman of Child Welfare,
and Mrs. W. M. Scott, chairman of
Education of War Orphans, had
charge of the program. In the Ab
sence of the president, Mrs. W. V.
Jett, Mrs. Jere Moore presided.
After the usual unit procedure
and business was dispensed with,
Mrs. Moore presented Dr. Sam An
derson who gave greeting? from the
Legion. Mrs. W. G. Cox read a most
interesting paper on the education
of war orphans.
IMr. George Carpenter introduced
Hon. Usher Winslett, the distinguish
ed speaker of the aftemon. Mr.
W nslett spoke on Child Welfare, a
subject which he is very much inter
ested in and for which he has done
a very great work. Col. Marion Allen
representative in the legislature from
Baldwin county, spoke most interest
ingly on thc child labvr amendment
to the constitution of the United
States. Mrs. Edwin AUen introduced
a resolution that the Auxiliary go
on record *> favoring the amend
ment and that this resolution be pre
sented to the other ciube for their
endorsement. This motion was car
ried and will be presented to the
other organiaations of the cjunty.
At the conclusion of the program,
the guests were invited to thc din
ing room of the Domestic Science
department of the Georg's State
College for Women and served punch
and cakes. The hostesses of the af
