The members of the Farmers Club
at their regular monthly meeting at
the Darien Hotel Saturday were
the guests of Mr. J. L. Sibley, the
President A steak dinner was

The annual election of officers
was held by the choice of Mr. C.
R. Torrance as President; Mr. Walter
Greene, as Viee-President; and Dr.
H. D. Allen, Secretary and Treasurer.
Mr. G. E McWhorter, who was
in the city, visiting his family, out
lined the work being done to pre
vent soil erosions, after stgtbig the
destruction being done to the land.

were appointed a committee to
confer with the* members of the
Baldwin County Medical Associa-i
tion relative to the charge of 75
cents per. mile for country visits.
This change has been in vogue, it
was said, for the past twenty-five
or thirty years, and those who dis
cussed the motion, held to the view
that the present mode of travel-
by automobile, would warrant
* reduced charge.
There were present at th* meet
ing two charter members of the
club—when it was organized in
1906 or 1907. They were Messrs
Terry Treanor and Geo. W. Hollin-
shead.

Georgia farmers Friday joined with
other cotton growers throughout
the South in voting overwhelming
ly to continue the Bankhead cotton
control act in 1935. The ratio in this
state was 6 to 1 in favor of continu
ance of the act and in the cotton
growing region as a whole, approval
was registered in the ratio of 10 to
1- A two-thirds majority was neces
sary to keep the act in force nexU
This vote by southern cotton farm
ers means that next year’s crop will
be limited to 10 million bales, with
the probability of farmers who pro
duce two bales or less being ex
empted from provisions of the law.
