I made practically the
same trip and on my honor I do not
believe there was one person fish
ing where there were fifty last year.
I have had report after repert and
about 98 per cent of them bear me
out in my personal experience.
I have just been in conversation,
long distance, with Mr. James, our
fish culturist, and he advises that
the floating bass nests that wc have
nut in T.ake Burton and Lake Blue
Ridse are apparently going to be a
great success. He states that he and
some friends inspected two Of these
floating nests and one of them had
as many as five or six thousand
baby fish in it. These were not of
the fingerling sire, but perhaps four
or five days old. Another one of
these nerds he stated, contained bass
still in the spawning stage.
We are Very enthusiastic since
talking to Mr. James as these float
ing nests are very inexpensive to
build. Of course, there is a lot of
hard work connected with the con
struction of them.
1 may add that the purpose of
these floating nests in the large lakes
is. (».’ course, to assist the fish in
spawning. The> are made almost
