the Tuesday Night Bridge Club this
week. Mrs. Drayton Thomas was a
guest, and seven members were pres
ent. Mrs. Willie D. Stembridge won
high score prize and Miss Betty
Ferguson low.
Dr. and Mrs. D. M. Jordan, and
children, of Miami. Fla., were the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Terry
during commencement. Dr. Jordan
brother of Mrs. Terry and his
daughter. Miss Lillian Jordan, re
ceived her degree.
Miss Betty Ferguson spent Monday
in Atlanta visiting Miss Anna Mil
ler, who is a patient at the Pied
mont Hospital. Miss Miller’s many
friends will be glad to know that
she is improving rapidly, and she
hopes soon to leave the Hospital.

of Miss Evelyn Crawford, which was
solemnized on last Wednesday even
ing at the Vineville Methodist

BRILLIANT EVENT
TUESDAY EVENING.
Miss Julia Butts became the bride
of Mr. Raymond Burkett at an im
pressive and beautiful ceremony in
the presence of a large gathering of
relatives and friends on Tuesday
evening at the First Methodist
church.
The interior of the church was
decorated with quantities of pines,
wild asters and candles. Flooi
baskets of regal lilies flanked by
candelabra of white tapers were
efectively arranged in the chancel
rail.
Prior to and during the ceremony

ns, Mrs. Helen Granade Long sang,

the strains of Mendelsjohns wedding
march, the bridal party entered.
The ushers entered in twos. They
were: Messrs. Wallace Butts, Wil
liam Butts, Ed Downs, Julius Holt,
Poole Chapman, H. S. Dodgin. Ray
mond Wheeler and Roy Wicker.
The bridesmaids were Misses Lil
lian and Lucille Pridgen, of Cordele.
Ruth Jackson, Manelle Dooley, of
Macon, Ethel Tye, Katherine Butts,
Maurice Kenney and Lucille Burkett,
of Atlanta. The brides maids were
dressed alike in becoming models
of mousseline de soie in pastel shades
fashioned along princess lines with
high standing collars and large puff
sleeve'.. They carried mufis of gar
den flowers.
The maid and matron of honor
entered together. Miss Susie Butts
and Mrs. Arthur Butts, Jr.,
gowned like the brides maids. The
maid of honor's dress was of
flower blue and she carried an
bouquet rtf pink roses. The matron
of honor wore a similar dreess of
peach color and t arried sunset roses.

In the living room where the mar
riage vows were said, an improvised
aftar was arranged with a back
ground of ivy. Tall basket of regal
lilies and candelabra holding white
candles were used in an effect'-
arrangement. Pink gladoli completed
the decorations throughout the
home.
A program of nuptial music was
rendered by Mrs. George Fowler,
playing “Romance" by LaForde. Mr.
Sidney Stembridge. brother of the
bride, sang “I Love You Truly,"
proceeding the ceremony.
The bride entered with her mother
woh wore a white triple sheer and
a corsage of pink roses. The bride’s
dress was of dark blue triple sheer
with accessories to match. She wore
a corsage of orchids and valley lilies.
The groom chose as his best man.
Mr. Sidney Stembridge.
Immediately after the ceremony
the bride and groom left on a wed
ding trip and after July 1st will be
at home in Forest City, N. C.
