WOMEN’S CIRCLE MEETS.
The Business Woman’s Circle of
c Presbyterian Auxiliary met
Monday night, July 1, with Mrs. B.
F. Eberhart and Miss Catherine
Weaver, fourteen members and five
visitors were present.
Mrs. Bates and Mrs. Beaman
presented a program on Sabbath
Observance with Mrs. Sam Evans as
Bible Study Leader.
The next meeting will be held
with Mrs. Geo. Webber. Monday
night, August 5th. where Miss Eliza
beth Brannen will have charge of
the program.

The members of the Echetah
Country Club enjoyed a delightful
box supper on Monday evening.
Swimming and dancing were enjoyed
during the evening.
GAME WARDEN MAKES ARRESTS
FOR SEINING IN COUNTY
Chas C. Morgan, district game and
fish protector, who has bden mak
ing a series of investigations in this
section of reports of violations the
fishing laws, arrested six mer
Friday on charges of_ seining in
lation of the law.
The men arrested were Archie
Tisdale, white. Grant Mims, James
Sabra. Oren Butts, Elbert Veal and
Milton Bolston, Mr. Morgan stated,
they were found seining in Spring
Lake near this city and had a
quantity of fish when caught, the
warden said.
Mr. Morgan said laws of the de
partment of game and fish would
be strictly enforced and warned
violators. On Tuesday a fish trap

Commissioners was arrested, the
prosecutor said.
Baldwin county has recently been
placed in the middle district and Mr.
Morgan has been spending much

BROTHER OF MR. W. II. JEWELL
DIES AT CH1CKAMAUGA
Chickamauga. Ga.. July 2—Mr.
Daniel Ashley Jewell, president Ol
the Crystal Springs Bleachery and
cotton Mills here, and widely known
textile mill operator, died here Tues
day. . It.
Stricken ill last Wednesday, Mr.
Jewell contracted pneumonia.
Coming to Chickamauga from
Jewell, Ga., about thirty years ago.
Mr. Jewell established the bleach
ery and later the cotton mill here.
He became one of the most widely
known textile mill owners in the na
tion.
The widow, two sons, Houston and
D. A. Jewell, Jr., who were connect
ed with their father in the textile
industry here; and two daughters,
Mrs. Gartland Horan, of Philadel
phia, and Mrs. Robert Henry, of At
lanta. survive. Funeral arrangements
will be announced later.
Mr. W. H. Jewell, of this city was
the only brother of the deceased
Mr. Jewell and Miss Jennie Jewell
attended the funeral services.
