On Thursday afternoon Mrs. Ed
win Allen, Mrs. Dawson Allen and
Miss Floride Allen entertained at a
beautiful recaption honoring MxS.
Powell Allen, of New York City
and Miss Hazel Bivins, whose wed
ding will be in October, Mrs. Jor
dan Ennis, a recent bride. In the
receiving line with the hostesses and
the honor guests were Mrs. Ben
Bryan, Mrs. Claude Ray, Mrs. Homer
Bivins, Mrs. Oscar Ennis, Mrs. H.
D. Allen, Mrs. Margaret Foote, of
Decatur and Mrs. J. B. Tait.
Vases of artistically arranged
flowers were used in the rooms

of the guests. In the dining room
where the guests were served punch,
sandwiches and sweets, the table
was covered with a handsome hand
made cloth. The punch bowl
placed in the center of the table and
silver vases of mixed flowers

On Sunday Sept. 22nd, Mrs. Anna
M. Cook will celebrate her 91st
birthday.
Mrs. Cook is Baldwin County’s
oldest citizen. She has spent her en
tire life here and is belovt>d by
everyone. She plans to spend the
day quietly at home after attending
church services as she has dose for
more than half a century every Sun
day. Her health is good and she
keeps an active interest in all civic
and religious affairs.
Mrs. Cook's legion of friends ex
tend felicitations and best wishes
for a most happy birthday.

Plans were made tfor the year’s
work.
The first meeting of the year
will be held at 3:30 P. M.. Wednes
day, September 25th, in the Peabody
School auditorium.
The regular meetings will be held
thereafter, on the second Wednesday
of each month, at 3:30 P. M„ and
the Executive Board will meet at
10 A. M.. on the first Wednesday of
the month. All meetings will be held
at the Peabody school.
