They ore Miss Bertie Stembridgc. Ordinary, and Mrs. L. D. Smith. Tax Collector. Both of them are most efficient in the per-, formance of their duties, and their j work is done with accuracy, and | ability. They are held in the high-1 est esteem and confidence by the people of Baldwin county. The Union-Recorder would find] it difficult to name its oldest long’ time subscriber, but we would risk j the guess that he is Mr. E. S. Vin son. Mr. Vinson, who is over eighty years cf age. has been a reader of this paper practically all of his life, as this paper was going in the home of his parents when he was bom. He looks forward to the weekly visit of the Union-Recorder to his home, and reads it with interest. Mr. L. C. Hall, chairman of the pulpit committee appointed to se lect a minister for the Presbyterian church, is happy that the task has been finished, and he is satisfied with the result, as he feels that a wise selection has been made, and \ a most able man and preacher, who . is well qualified both in character ar.d ability named. Mr. Hall is an elder in the Presbyterian church and has for a long number of years been interested in its upbuilding and ad vancement. Majors R. A. Thome and Godfrey Qsterman have hteewne property owners in Milledgeville, having pur chased houses on South Wilkinson street Major Thome will move the first of November, and Major (fcter- man will occupy his home later on in the year. Both are members erf the G. M. C. faculty, and are held in the highest esteem by their co workers. the studentbody and those of our citizens, who have come to know them. Rev. Horace S. Smith, pastor of the Milledgeville Methodist church paid his first visit to Savannah the past week when he went to thrt city to attend the Kiwanis Convention. He enjoyed the trip and his stay in the city by the sea. The people of Milledgeville re gardless of denomination will join in extending an enthusiastic and cordial welcome to the new Pres byterian Minister. Rev. Rufus W. Oakey. and his family when they arrive in the city next week. Veal Saturday found among the other good things served biscuit made of home-raised wheat and I fresh butter from the dairy of Mr. Veal. Mrs. H. D. Allen, who is an hon orary member of the Farmers club was at the mc-eting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Veal Saturday, and her presence was greatly ap preciated by the members. All of whom held her in the highest re gard. Mr. J. T. McMullin. Assistant postmaster at the MilledgeviUc pest office, has been an employee of Uncle Sam for a few months over thirty years. He was first employed as a rural mail carrier, and then as a city carrier, and later became n clerk, thus having experience in every department when he was made assistant post master.
