A SINGULAR CASE OF BIGAMY.
A curious case of bigamy recently occur
red in England. The offender I h"inns
Sharrocks, married his first Wife Benv H .l
bern at Radcliffe, and it appears that they
lived together comfortably. It seems howe
ver, dial he thought auotaer wife would make
liis happiness and housetmld complete; and
he accordingly succeeded in persuading a
young worn m, aged about IS years ol pre
possing appearance, unknown to her parents,
to become Ins second woe, and they were
married on ihe 62Stli of duly last. Ihe strnge
ness of the transaction is, that the first wife
went to her husband’s second morriage, off.
ciated as bridemnid, and actually pulled tier
own wedding ring from her and with
that ring the ceremony was . i.inn-d.—
When toe man was apprehended, he and ins
two wives were living very comfortably to
gether, all the parties unaware of the degra
dation to which they were reduced, for, oft
the apprehension of Sharrocks they thought
it was hard that the law should interfere with
them if they were comfortable. After Shar
rock had been Committed, and hid been re
moved to the station, he was visited by both
his wives ; and the fellow there boasted that
no man ever had two better wives at once,
and that when became hack, he would stick
to them through life, and lose iiis last tirop of
blood in their defence.
A slump orator who wished to gammon
some Germans just previous to an election,
in order to obtain their votes, observed that
hough he was not a German himself, he had
a brother who was remarkably fond of Ger
man sausages.
