Tlie Oration To-day.
The address of Capt. McCleskoy to-day,
at tho opera house, will be a rplendld tri

Confederate living. Georgia can boast of
but few more eloquent sons than Captain
MeCleskey; and with the grand theme of
the "Confederate Dead" and all the argu
ments of the war at his fingers' end, we
can promise our readers a rich intellectu

Nr. Ueorge Rlgnoltl.
Mr. George Rlgnold is so widely known
that it Is scarcely necessary to say that he
is considered one of the best living actors,
and in roles requiring strength and depth
and tenderness of expression hesnrpasscs
nearly all others. The following notice
from tho San Francisco Bulletin gives
what we conceive to be tho average criti
cal estlmato of Mr. Rlgnold In the role of
Henry V;
“Handsome in person, kingly in bear
ing, with great histrlouio power, a finely
cultivated voice, gift of elocution, ana
strength of physique as well as a subtle
grace of action, Rlgnold as Henry V. is
the very beau ideal of a stage figure. Ills
tine voice swells Into command as it melts
Into gentleness as occasion roduires. Cour
teous and bluff, declamatory and senti
mental-man, soldier or king, hels always
the character in whloii tho interest of. tno
audience is centred. With cv line percep
tion of what art requires and Shakes
peare intended, he grandly portrays the
inonarehs of England In that stormy pe
riod of her history signalized by the con
quest of Franco and the most brilliant
achievements of tho English arms. Ho, in
fact, is the only Henry V. of the modern
stage who does justice to the character,
and tho fact is acknowledged bytheahlest
critics of both tho old and new world.”
With Mr. Rlgnold Is a select company
and properties and costumes suitable to
the correct historic presentation of this
favorito Bhakesperian drama.
