Madame Janauscbek, probably the
greatest actress on the stage, will,
with a picked troupe of theatrical
artists; appear in tbe above to night
at bpriuger Opera House. The New
York World speaking of her matinee
for the profession in a day wtienau
tue other theatres were closed, says:
It is needle** to say that despite
tbe rain tbe house was crowded, but
it is worthy of note that almost every
scat was taken long before the cur
tain was rung up, and that thereafter
but few persuu* entered the theatre.
Thia in itself, so different from the
scene which may be witnessed at any
theatre tor a quarter of an hour aftei
the beginoig of the performance,
evinced a tender itgaro lor the ar-
Uste a* well as a knowledge ou thi
part of those present that It is iibso
lutely Ufcccssaiy to bear and see tue
opeulug of a play iu order to intelli

Mme, Jauauecbek on her appear
ance leceived a vurltubieovaiion,auo
it was some moments before she
could proceed. I'Ueu, knowing full
well that this was a far mure critical
audience than usual, she evidently
nerved Ueraeit lor the ordeal, aud
seldom has she been seen to bettei
advantage. Every detail, every es
fective delivery, every etatuesqui
pose—in fact, each of the mytiad of
small matters, by her attention to
which sue snows herself to be a oon
scientous mistress ot her art, anu
which are the very points which an
ordinary audience would pay no at
teutlon to or entirely overlook, was
caught up by her fiiends before the
footlights, aud trequent plaudits ot
admiration came from those who are
more aci ustutned to receiving than
Oustuwiug applause.
At lhe close of the play Mme. Jul“
Atibcuck was obliged co appear nuiore
thu curtain three tiuies.auu it seem. U
as tiiougu tne audieuce struggled
agulust losing sight ol her. The men
cheered aud wildly waved their hate,
while dainty handkerchiefs,fluttering
lu neatly-gloved Uanue, waited to the
artiste the inceu»e of admiration aud
respect from the ladies. It was a
scene which must have made the old
,ady's heart swell ov r with joy.

It la sclentlffcally aettied that rheuma
tlem. gout and nuralgla cannot be cured
by rubbing with oils, ointments, llul
meutß, lotions, etc.; for lhe reason that
these liieeaoes are eaueed by uric acid in

uniformly expels this acid Is Parker’s
Tonic. Subdues pain at onoe. Try It,
