COTTON—Prices are rather more in favor of buyers
to day than at our last quotations, although the demand
continues good, and all that is offered is taken wito slight
concessions in the rates of the last few days. We notice
i decline in some of the seaport markets. We quote ex
tremes s£a7i.
Montgomery, Jan. 26.
The market was rather dull to-day—prices being in
favor of buyers. We quote 6a 7 cents.
Savannah, Jan. 26.
COTTON—There was quite a brisk demand this
morning, at yesterday’s decline. The sales amount to
1,906 bales. Extremes 6$ a S£. Principal sales,
cents.
Atlanta, Jaa. 26.
COTTON — 6| cents.
New York, Jan. 24.
Our Cotton market is without change. Flour is lower;
Ohio is quoted at $8.50 to $9.
Storm. —It has been snowing throughout the whole
day.
New York, Jan. 23.
Cotton is firm and active, with prices tending upwards.
Flour is easier, but not quotably lower.
o°We seldom recommend a manufactured medicine,
believing that, in most cases, nature herself perfects a cure
more rapidly and effectually than can be accomplished by
the vegetables and minerals of medical science. But in
the matter of dyspepsia, there are chronic features about it,
which, very often, defy all, the efforts of nature to create a
healthy action ot the digestive organs, and it not unfre
quently happens that thousands suffer for years, diseased
both in body and mind, from indigestion and its kindred
ills. To such, Iloofland’s German Bitters, prepared by Dr.
C. M. Jackson, are truly a most valuable preparation. It
is a tonic medicine, giving a healthy action to the stomach,
and will be found highly serviceable at all seasons, but es
pecially during the Spring. Dyspepsia can only be cured
by a patient perseverence in one course ot treatment; and
to all those suffering under this sad malady we would re
commend an application to the depot of Hoofland’s Ger
man Bitters, 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.— Philadelphia

Worms.— As this is the season of the year when worms
are most formidable among children, the proprietors ot M’-
Lane’s V ermifuge, beg leave to call the attention ot parents
to its virtues for the expelling of these annoying and often
fatal enemies of children. It was invented by a physician
of great experince in Virginia, who, alter having used it
in his own practice, and found its success so universal, was
induce i at lust to offer it to the public as a cheap but cer
tain and excellent medicine. It has since become Justly
popular throughout the United States as the most efficient
Vermifuge ever known, and the demand has been steadily
on the increase since its first introduction to the public.—
This great worm Specific may be had at all the Druggists
iu Columbus, and of Dealers generally throughout the U.b.
AGUE AND t EVER of three years standing
CUBED.—Mr. John Longdeu, now living at Beaver Dam,
Hanover county, near Richmond, had ague and fever tor
three years, most of the time he had (.hills twice a day,
and rarely less than once; he was parched with fevers as
soon as the chill left him; and after trying physicans, qui
nine, most ot the Tonics advertised, and everything re
commended to him, was about to give up in despaii, when
Carter’s Spanish Mixture was spoken of: he got two bot
tles, but before he had used more than a single one, he was
perfectly cured, and has not had a chill or fever since.
Mr Longden is only one out ot thousands who have
been benefited by this great tonic, alterative and blood

AYER'S CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid cure of Coughs, Colds, Hoarseness, Bron
chitis, Whooping Cough, Croup, Asthma, and Con
sumption.
This remedy has won for itself such notoriety from its
cures of every variety of pulmonary disease, that it is en
tirely unnecessary to recount the evidences of its virtues in
any community where it has been employed. So wide is
the field of its usefulness, and so numerous the cases of its
cures, that almost every section of the country abounds
in peisons publicly known who have been restored from
alarming and even desperate diseases of the lungs by its
use. When once tried its superiority over every other med
icine of its kind is too apparent to escape observation, arid
where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate
what antidote to employ for the distressing and dangerous
affections of the pulmonary organs which aie incident to
our climate. And not only in fordmidable attacks upon
the Jungs, but for the milder varieties of Colds, Coughs.
Hoarseness, &c ; and for Children it is the pleasantest and
safest inedieine that can be. obtained.
As it has long been in constant use throughout this sec
tion, we need not do more than assure the people its qual
ity is kept up to to the best that it ever has been, and that
the genuine article is sold by

2. The Edinburgh Review (Whig.)

The present critical state of European affairs will render
these publications unasually interesting during the forthcom

hastily written news items, crude speculations, and flying
rumors of the daily Journal and the ponderous Tome of the
future historian, written after the Jiving interest and excite
ment of the great political events of the time shall have
passed way. It i3 to these Periodicals that readers must
look for the only really intelligible and reliable history of
current events, and as such, in addition to their weil estab
lished literary, scientific, and theological character, we urge
them upon the consideration of the reading public.
Arrangements are now permanently made for the
receipt of EARLY SHEETS from the Brittish Publish
