OBITUARY. , * J> and on Friday, the 12th January, 1855, from a corn bin I attack of Pneumonia and Dropsy JEu B. W. Spivey. ’ V ‘lf’ was born in South Carolina,on the 14th of Tebruary jfell —from whence he was brought when a child to Law ren ye Countv in tho State of Georgia. In Lawrence he was reared, an d remained until early manhood, and then removed to the county of Muscogee, within which he pas-ed the balance ol his day’s, with the exception of a lfw short intervals. * He twice represented, witn much credit, Muscogee in the Legi.'Liture of the State. But, upon the close of his sec ond term, he joined the Methodist Conference and took upon himself the hard and self-denying, but rot inglorious lot of an itinerant preacher. The duties of his station he enb ivd on and and for many years with that whole >uird devotion, which marked him through lite. An un fcrtu.n rite combination of cirmffnstabces caused his with drawal from the ministry and eventually’ from the Church, but a- was well said of 1 iin, hv an eminent and holy man ||>f his God, it was by nobody’s consent but his own. It is ■r.-.tilying to know that he again became a member of the fl h.uno denomination, ar.d that he was soothed and cheered j ■ |;i his la-t days, by the Christian’s hopes and consolations. F ‘l’lie fate of the deceased was mueh’and curiously eheek- Berud. His nature was ardent and speculative, and he was ■railed upon to bear many ot the reverses which not un- II ecu uitly attend sucii temperaments. But at all times, in I health, in sickness, in good and bad fortune, his heart ever (beat with love and charity for his fellow beings. No man lever loved his friends better than he did, and though quick Ito resent injury or affront, no man ever had a readier or I more cordial forgiveness for those who had excited his ani- I nio-.ity. Jii prosperity he was surrounded by friends; in adversity he felt bitterly the sting of man’s ingratitude.
