The present critical state of European affairs will render

ing year. They will occupy a middle ground between the
hastily written news items, crude speculations,and flying
rumors of the daily Journal and the ponderous Tome.of the
future historian, written alter the Jiving interest and excite
ment of the great political events of the time shall have
pa s sed way. It is to these Periodicals that readers must
look for the only really intelligible and reliable history of
current events, and as such, in addition to their well estab
lished literary,scientific, and theological character, we urge
them upon the consideration of the reading public.
Arrangements are now permanently made for the ‘
receipt of EARLY SHEETS from the Brittish Publish
ers, bv which we are enabled to place ALL OUR RE- i

can be furnished with foreign copies. Although this in
volves a verv large outlay on our part, we shall continue to j

and its vicinity, that we have concluded our arrangements
with the Central, South-Western and Muscogee Railroads, and
are now running messengers daily from Columbus to Macon
thence to Savannah.
Also, forwarding goods daily over the Muscogee and South
v\ estern Railroad to Fort Valley, Oglethorpe and Macon, thence
to Milledgeville Savannah and all intermediate places.
Also, tq Montgomery, Ala. We would also say, that our Ex
presses by the steamers to New York ana Philadelphia enable us
to forward every description of merchandise and valuables.
Notes, Drafts, and Bills collected inevery town in the Northern
and Eastern states ; also, to California and Europe.
